A Red on a 2.3 will not be laggy, and will be between 550 to 600 whp on a DJ with E85 and 30 pounds of boost or so

Force Performances website says if you're going for 600hp get the black, which starts to get laggy. I was just saying in general the higher the horse power, the greater the lag. Not to mention the mpgs. I wouldn't daily that, but that's based on my personal experiences and opinion. Nice ISF btw

Dont get caught up with horse power numbers 500whp with a faster spool will be more fun than a laggy 600whp big turbo.
Why, why why do you hate our freedoms?

Black laggy........LOL. Lag is overrated. When I had my BBK-B it was awesome when I wanted to rip through the gears, When I wanted to drive normal it was maddening. I had to drive like a grandmother to stay in vacuum.

SLightly higher compression with a big turbo is my favourite. It feels like a Fast Honda on crack off boost and warp speed on.....and pulls like a freight train all the way to redline.

I guess it depends on what you want. I like big frame turbo's. They are not as laggy as people complain about.....at least not to me.

It's kind of hard to be 100% when so many part's fail at those levels , turbo's , clutches , headers, fuel system, electrical anything that can go wrong will go wrong just be ready to dish out $$$ to stay at 600+

By drivetrain im talking, axels, tranny (not clutch), both diffs and drive shaft. The engine is built and the clutch is a exedy triple. DDs like a charm with AC and PS.

I was set on the Blouch 2.0 until I read 94AWDcoupe's 2.3 review. Non linear in the lower gears and made him miss the power of the Red in 4th and 5th.

The Red will get you 600hp just fine if you want to push it (ER just dynoed one at 637). But 550whp is a safe bet with all the right mods and a stroker to make it less laggy. I want nice response from my turbos

Are you getting the MHI twin scroll Red or the new open scroll? If its the latter, I will be very curious to hear your opinion on transient response.

I'm a twin scroll homer. Got a Xona BB HTZ Red with one of the last MHI housings that FP got. Between all my porting, lightweight parts, heat management/containment and MIVEC, I want to see how quickly I can spool that Red. I see some 3800 rpm dyno charts. A handful of them with full spool at 3500. With the full-on turbo blanket from PTP and all the coatings, can we spool it even sooner than 3500? Who knows. But I know the PTP blanket got them 250rpms of earlier spool on a low-pressure diesel turbo (Link in my build thread).

Time will tell

Sounds like a great combo. Keep in mind that anything that keeps in heat to improve spool/transient will also cause higher back pressure sooner. Always a tradeoff.

Ah, thanks Mychailo. Didn't know that. I'll be happy with a super-responsive Red. Don't care about breaking any hp records...especially with the 6 speed. Anywhere in the 550whp (Dynojet) area will be good.

I like a larger turbo that stays out of boost when driving 'normal' like you said. Having instant boost can lead to a spastic, twitchy, sketchy ride. But, OTOH, I appreciate a quick spooling turbo on the street. My current car has the stock turbo, but other cars I've had in the past haven't been an issue with larger snails with more lag, just have to pilot it differently

I can agree with that. I just got my car back and before it felt scary to drive. Now the power is more linear. I'm sure it has something to do with the higher compression and slightly less boost being run.
