So you really need to looka t the big picture in tearms of the cars performance, and building before you try and compare it. Really comparing an Evo-VII GSR to a USDM WRX is like comparing an MY01 Integra Type-R to a MY01 Celica GT. They are the same, but vastly differnt.
correction.. celica GTS.. and you are right.. the integra type r is a limited edition raced prepped car with more horespower.. the celica is just an ordinary mass produced car.. however.. suprisngly cars have a lot of similarity.. performance wise.. as well as price.. but being the type r is limited they are different.. as the celica was meant to take out the gsr and prelude.. (which it did) but happenly just manage to be up there with the R..

Yea, I gotta say that $34k is my limit. Anymore than that I'd rather save some money and get a daily till the price of the Evo came down or just buy a well maintained used one later.

Arent prices in the Uk higher than here anyway? I know a guy at one of our sister companies in the UK who was flabbergasted that I was able to afford to drive a Scooby here in the states. It is a rare sighting of an Imp or especially an EVO.

If I recall Subaru was talking about importing 1700 wrx sti's. This is a very low number. Mitsubishi is talking about ramping up to 22,000 units of the GT-A for the world market - read United States. This is still a very low number. They have completed their production run of GSR's, RS and RS-2 units for 2002 which I beleive was under 5000 units total. The first run of Japanese GT-A's have been sitting on dealer floors for a few weeks now in Japan. I would guess that Mitsubishi is gearing up to make a run of 4000-10000 GT-A units for the US market out of this run of 22,000. It fits well with the claims that the US car will loose 10 to 20 hp when imported to the US. Thats about what GT-A lost over the GS-R. US and Japanese emission requirements are similar for gasoline fueled engines. Lets hope that Mitsubishi allocates 500 - 1000 gsr units to the US market in 2003

guys guys guys just answer the original question and no nonsense

what would i pay for an Evo? Well, if it's a tuned down version I would pay the same pricea WRX is going for which is approx. $24000.

If it's just like the original jap version I would pay at the most $29000. Anything more for a mere turbocharged 4-banger is nonsense AWD, rally car, or what not.

Also, automatics are for gurls...i hope some ladies here don't get offended

Mitsu is trying to attract consumers to their sub compact cars and they know the cars wont sell well if they are priced at 30K. Look at the Eclipse. The GSX was about 27-29K and a sports car and not many people bought them. There are too many cars out there for 30K that an EVO would lose sales to. There are a few of us that want the 276HP AWD but thats not for everyone.

Performance doesn't come cheap. 276bhp under 30k.. and it competes w/ BMW M3... that's impressive.. i will pay 30k to 35k

Eclipse gsx and GST didn't cost 27 - 29k man.. that's if you finance the car for about 6yrs. I bought mine around 26k loaded.. Eclipse sale didn't go down, go and check out how many eclipses were sold between 96 to 99.

first, the M3 has so much more than the evo could ever offer. true, it competes 0-60 and 1/4 mile but sit in each and go for a long drive... then tell me which one has a hand up.

Second, about the sales #'s on the eclipses... they got rid of the turbos because the sales were so bad.

did i just hear some idiot say an M3 is comparable to an Evo? RETARD!:soapbox:

We are talking about a classy luxury/sports coupe V6, naturally aspirated w/333 hp (and imagine if this **** was turbo); and to compare that with a mere 4-banger that's been slapped with a turbo?

30K is my limit for any car, EVO included. A car's just not worth that much debt.

And an EVO shares two (2) parts with the base Lancer. 2!!!! And these are body parts only.

TWO PARTS PEOPLE!

EvoSouL,

Just so you dont slip up in front of your friends, the M3 is an inline 6. The M3 is one sick car though. Couple of levels above the EVO. The Top Gear video with the M3 is sick!'

Sorry to get peoples feathers ruffled about the GT-A, but if you notice the title of this forum 'EVO Rumors' I think its ok if I post this. Maybe we should change the forum name to 'EVO facts'. Then I will create a sticky for it. It will contain the following:

GT-A arrival in the US sometime in the year 2003.

Regarding price, well if we do get the GSR unmolested.

Retail : $30000
Destination & Prep: $800
Dealer markup: $2000
Tax: $2624

Total $35424
Not to mention insurance....
Yeah, I will be willing to pay that I guess, but I can also get a used NSX or a mint Supra for that, both car which wont fall apart around me.

thank you for clarifying that...not that it really matters hehe (the whole point is that it has 6 cylinders rather than 4)
i was just trying to get a point across that's all

i don't think i'll buy an Evo if it's above 30k, i think that bimmer i've always wanted is what i'll get for the similar price (330ci <==tight *** car)

and thanks for the info. turbo :headbng2:
