I like the Apexi induction box http://www.apexi-usa.com/store/induc...olution-9.html

You can pair it with their intake kit http://www.apexi-usa.com/store/power...cer-evo-9.html

or use a wide variety of other intake filters.

I bet you could get the pair for $300 through MAP http://www.maperformance.com/

You can also get a samco intake hose which is identical to the perrin and still purchase a perrin filter. Another option is to use the stock intake hose and slap on any filter you desire such as a perrin filter which is what I'm doing currently.

But in the end does it still make the same power gains as Perrin claimed with just changing the filter like that?

I started off with the drop in, then a few months later, I went with the full intake kit.

If you car is otherwise stock, maybe just consider a better flowing drop in filter http://store.worksmotorsports.com/WO..._p/110.100.htm

Just get the shortest possible pipe and stick a filter on it. That way you could run speed density and remove the maf which will yield the most power gains. That would cost around $300; it's a great mod (speed density) for the future if you were looking to get a larger turbo.

I've had the Perrin intake setup on 2 of my Evo's. I'm going to change over to the ETS kit next. I like how the ETS one looks, and I don't like how close the Perrin sits next to my radiator fan.

Does your Perrin Intake have the bracket holding it in place?!

I contacted Perrin and they sent me a filter. They no longer show on there website but if you call them they will still sell it to you.
