What would you do? Evo 9, 2015 Wrx, or ???

Hey guys,

I was hoping you can chime in on my situation. I've been looking for a used Evo 8.5-9 for the past 2-3 months with no luck.. all the ones I have seen didn't meet my standards or they were asking for a ridiculous amount of money(28-30k). I know this car can last a long time.. easily to 150-200k+ depending on how well it was maintained.

Anyhow.. I started to get discouraged so I decided to test drive the new 2015 WRX base (im not interested in a sunroof or heated seats considering i live in sunny SO CAL) and I gotta admit.. I like it.. not as much as a Evo 8.5-9 but close.

What would you do in my situation? before anyone says anything I am not interested in the 2015 STI I have friends who have nothing but utter disappointment EJ257.. but with that being said should I hold out for the next gen STI?? hopefully next year the FA will come out with a STI version with more horsepower.

Any input from you guys would be appreciated. Thank you

ultimately go with which one you like best. but I would say if your just looking for a fun DD than get the wrx. if your looking to build I would go with the Evo.. really just depends on what your goals are with it.

Evo VIII isn't that much different. The minor performance gap between that and the IX is easily bridged.

What about an Evo X? There are still some 2014s out there. I'd take a X over a new WRX.

I'm actually surprised you're having a hard time finding an Evo. So-Cal is usually where I look for one since the emissions requirements are so strict and the prices are a bit lower than the rest of the country. I'd keep looking personally.

Wait and get a 2016 Focus RS. If you work with a dealer and put a deposit down you can get one of the first ones to land stateside. Which will likely be summer 2015.

Don't buy a used Evo, as you're not willing to spring for a good example of the breed. Good luck with the Subaru.

Don't get me wrong; there's nothing to sneer at regarding your budget. It's just that this market is a bit unusual in a sense that 80-90% of the cars are screwed up to the point where, likely, it would cost you more to restore the machine, than paying a higher price upfront.

You can find a nice condition Evo 9 for $22-25K. Just have to search nationally and be willing to ship the car to you.

You mean a nice condition Viii for that price. An IX in nice condition will run you up anywhere from 27-35k not to mention shipping and taxes. Seems like your counting everything's value with the Indian rupee currency or something, that or I'd hate to see the condition of your evo lol

That was with 2 minutes of searching

You must be bad at the internet.

P.S. It even has a JDM 9 rear bumper.
