Interested in getting an Evo

Could someone give me some information on the great things about Evo's models? Got rid of my 2g eclipse and its time for a new rocket to play with. I dont need another garage queen tho. Would you pick a Evo 8,9, 10? Why? thanks

I have 2 9's. Do you want a grocery getter? Check
Autocross? Check
Drag car? Check
Track car? Check
Show car? Check
Freeway hunter? Check
Back seat for kids/dogs? Check
Any of these while being a DD? Check

I have always liked the IX whether it be an RS, GSR or MR. They just stand out to me since they mark the final year of the 4g63. Plus, there are just less and less clean examples of them now. Makes them a little harder to find and more exclusive in my eyes. Just my 2 cents.

Used parts for the 8 and 9s are getting harder to find now so you should consider this.
Its weird because dsm parts are still plentiful even though they are so old but I think the demand for 8 and 9 parts are in such high demand and there arent much of it around that it drives the prices up. For example you can find a million evo x axles but 8 & 9 are rare and expensive

Get a built 8 or 9(check it out thoroughly first) and go out and have fun. The good thing about a good running Evo is that its fun going fast and its fun even going slow. You don't have to go looking for races to have a good time. Just the handling and performance are reasons enough to buy it over anything I can think of.

Test drive all three if they are within your budget. I've never been in a X so I can't really say "don't get one". However, I like the looks of the VIII and IX much better. My vote would be a clean IX. Typically lower miles and less wear and tear than a VIII, and cheaper than a X.

And most of the parts on the 7/8 are interchangeable.

if your gonna bang on it hard you had better be a good mechanic/tuner/fabricator. these cars are a lot more hands on than advertised, unless your mamba and only appreciate minty fresh unused/abused examples. i so far love mine. it's like having a superhot girlfriend thats out of your league. requires mega attention but rewards you. the price of admission is high but so is the reward.

Thanks. I was thinking maybe just a weekend cruiser. Maybe some mods. I like the look of the 9. Im not feeling the EVO X since they changed the motor. Im familiar with the 4g63. I heard the X has a pretty strong motor tho. Good point of the parts. They are expensive more then the DSM world. Thinking about taking it up to the snow but I cant lower it to much. i'll be a shovel if I do.

What would you mod?
