Hi all I'm after some advice I have been looking at evo8 mr340 recently as I fancy a change currently on my dare I say it 3rd impreza. Just wondered what the common faults are? What bhp are the engines good for before rebuild time max boost do the mr's have 6speeds ect ect

tons and tons of info on these forums. if you're interested in the car, do some research.

stock blocks are good reliably with 450whp; plenty of people are running low 500's on stock blocks

5-speed transmissions are stronger than the 6-speeds; complete opposite of the subaru's who have the bulletproof 6-speed and glass-transmission 5-speed

no real common faults like ringlands on the subarus. motor is dang reliable. if you're drag racing and launching then the drivetrain isn't as strong as the sti's. transfer case is usually the first thing to go if you are doing hard launches / launching improperly, but it's not like it'll blow up after 5 launches. Most blow-ups are from higher-power setups

Really 5speeds are stronger I'm surprised at that completely different from my Impreza I'm only really after400hp is the Mr a better car to the gsr is it? Thanks for taking the time to reply
