I love my Evo but would have a hard time paying that much for one. I had a 2002 GT and I will agree, Ford has come a LONG way. They are finally putting some down respectable stock power and interior looks great. Hell, even the ST Focus is driveable, thought I'd never say that.
I do enjoy getting looks and thumbs up in the Evo and I'm the only BBY around here.

there are really no new model stangs in Australia, as you would say, they would be grey imports mainly by rich business man. Most are old collectors models from the 60s and 70's. Ford produce a different model called a falcon, here and I suppose they don't want to deposition it in the market place. But that will soon change, Ford is closing its plant here and will be importing soon which means we will be getting the stang in a year or two.
If you see yourself as a tuner go with the Evo, if you want the bling and cruising, go the stang

I came back from my 2nd tour in iraq in september of 09 when the mr evo in wicked white i wanted had 24K miles only had rims, exhaust, and an ingen intake/upper intercooler pipe, and a few other cosmetic upgrades, the gentlemen who was in his late 40's at the time was asking 26k and I got him down to about 24k, never abused and garage kept. I never regreted it and would do it all over again, I looked at zr1's before and even gtr's and even though there pretty awesome I think about how much it'd cost to upgrade or build those motors, I'm not rich by any means, I'm now an RN & the wifes still a service member in the navy, when & if I have the money to purchase another sports car it'll be another mr evo and probably would settle for a 5spd evo 9. Why cause I know how to work on them there not cheap but cheaper to upgrade then the 2 cars I previously mentioned. As soon as we move in the end of the summer I plan on looking into learning how to tune my own car, these evo's are just so much fun, Good luck with your quest.

That's cool and all, but some of us use the Evo for what it's built to do. That's not drag racing.

IMO, in that case, i wouldn't buy any Evo. i'm not paying Evo money for a car that i'm not going to use to it's potential. that's a lot of money, for an old car, to just cruise around in and go fast in a straight line. especially when there are cheaper/faster options.
that being said, if someone has the cash and just likes Evos because they.. well. just like them? i get it. and i say go for it.
