Doing valvesprings... dropped a valve...

Im pretty sure I know the answer to this question but is there any way to fish a valve out w/o pulling the head? And if not can I just pull the exhaust manifold and leave the intake manifold on the head? I know Im an idiot. I didn't let my compressor fill back up apparently and when I popped the retainer off it was game over... Any help is appreciated...

you MIGHT be able to use a magnet and fish it up through the port, then use some long thin needle nose to coax it back into the guide/seal. Good luck...

no, take whatever manifold off you need to, and use a bendy magnet to fish it up through the port.

Just put that cyl in tdc and do the valves accordingly. They can only drop a little bit.
I would try to take off the intake or exhaust manifold and try to work with it from there before you pull the head if you can. good luck!

If it fell completely out of the guide I highly doubt you will be able to get it back in. If it is still in the bottom of the guide it shouldnt be too hard..

you cant get long and thin needle nose pliers in the port to help get it into the guide?

I would just bite the bullet and buy a headgasket and yank the head. it sucks, but that's the easiest way to do it. unless you can get the valve at an angle and started into the guide, and get a small wedge to push from the bottom, enough to get some stem sticking out so you can grab it. you will need about 3-4 hands though.
