exhaust light on dashboard??
hi
ive got an Evo 2 RS, its done 90,000kms
i took it to the local track a few weekends ago and thrashed it for the day with no problems
as i pulled up my driveway that night the catalytic converter warning light popped up on the dashboard for no apparent reason
the other thing ive noticed is that since the light came on, the radiator fan runs constantly as soon as you turn the key on and no longer runs off thermostat
ive unplugged all the temp sensors and that doesnt make the light go away, nor does it turn the radiator fan off
also ive got a 2.5" straight through exhaust with 1 muffler and 1 resonator in it, there is no catalytic converter and hasnt had one for about 6 years so theres no reason for the light to turn on...
has anyone come across this problem before? or any tips on what i should be looking at next, all the relays in the fusebox are testing out to be ok so im kinda stumped
any help is much appreciated

Any chance the old O2 sensor cable shifted from it's "storage" spot during your thrashing and is touching part of the exhaust or motor? Perhaps it melted through the insulation and is shorting out on something now.

It is a warning of catalytic converter overheating.
There is a temp sensor fitted in the cat.
If you have no cat, someone has removed the sensor and shorted the wires or fitted a resistance.
Check under the front seat ( cant say which side ) for the connector
