are people laughing at me driving an Evo?
Ok so I was out in my family car on the weekend and drove up behind a really nice stanced Supra, when I came up next to it of course you look over to see who is driving it, half expecting some young dude with a cap on who has poured his life savings into it but, I see this old silver fox behind the wheel, the wife looks over too and says oh another old guy like you in a car ment for his son and gives out a giggle. Ok so I'm thinking others are thinking this too, I know you all on here will say you can drive whatever car you want etc, but I'm wondering is the more slammed or riced a car is does this make an old guy look silly at the wheel? Do you know what I mean? Does grey hair and ricing actually work? lol

In a riced out example of the platform, yes people are laughing. In a clean, well kept example however, if they are familiar with the platform, they wouldn't laugh.
As the pricing for used CT9A's come down they'll sell to a younger crowd who care more about how the car looks sitting in a parking lot vs having a well performing vehicle

Yes people are laughing. I think older car guys should not be driving Evo's or slammed whatever if they care what middle aged people think about them. With that said it seems perfectly ok for older car guys to drive Ferrari's, McLaren's and Porsches. My wife hates my Evo and has wanted me to sell it for the past almost 10 years.

Its not about the car, its about you. If you are doing stupid look at me type **** people will think you are a manchild. This includes your decisions on how you mod your car.

it's really about what you're passionate about. I don't drive an Evo, and I own an Acura RSX and I'm older than most people on my forums but really idc what people think. I love my car and the time I put into all my DIYs and such. In the end it's me who's driving the car. Not them.

Ricing is all about turning heads, doing whatever it takes, whatever is the latest fad, to cause people to look at your car. Well, when they do, they are going to see you too and maybe think it is odd that an older person is into chasing fads which is a practice mostly confined to young people.
Edit: Now that I think about it realize older people are busy replacing entire kitchens because the wood is the wrong color and the counter tops not granite. So, we still chase fads.

I agree with everyone here. Car guys who know anything about cars will appreciate the evo for what it is. i can't tell you how many spontaneous conversations I've had with random people genuinely interested in the evo.
On contrary, I actually feel bad for the old guy driving a Ford Fusion. He's close to retirement age and all he can do is lease a Ford Fusion. At some point in your career, you'd want some disposable income to spend on a fun car.
