Hey guys, so I researched and I couldn't find anyone with my same problem. When I bought my Evo 9 back in April, I noticed that the driver side HID was a little more white than the passenger side was which had a nice hint of blue. Decided I'd wait until one burned out to swap them both. Well sure enough, the driver side burned out so I decided to swap them both out to have matching colors. I bought some 8k D2S bulbs because that seemed to be the bulbs that were already on. I was right about them being 8k, but the driver side still looks a little more white compared to the passenger side. Also now with the new bulbs installed, the driver side is starting to flicker a lot. What could be the cause of the driver side flickering with a new bulb and not being the same color blue as the passenger? Ballast maybe?

This is exactly what's happening with mine but on my passenger side.
I have a JDM evo so it would be exactly the same as in your post.
My headlight flickers when I turn hard and it will go back to normal once I'm driving back in a straight line but sometimes it would turn off completely.
The side that flickers also does seem a bit more blue.
I've bought new bulbs but I'm thinking it could be something with the wiring or ballast itself.

 

ballast is cheap and/or bad

when HID bulbs die, they go purple and dim a little

when ballasts die, the bulb turns off completely
