Help my buy an evo!

Hi everybody im in the market for an evo. There is currently an 04 gsr for sale by me that i have checked out and test drove. It seems to be in good condition (at least for an 04) clean title and stock exterior with the exception of the trunk but they have the original with spoiler and it has 51k on the odometer. Here are the mods they claim to have.

Forced Performance 71HTA turbo, cosworth 272 camshafts, ARP head studs, PT 1200cc injectors, Walbro 255 fuel pump, spoolin coils, manual boost controller, synapse synchronic diverter/blow off valve, Exedy twin disc clutch, carbon fiber trunk, upgraded front mount intercooler, silicone couplers, megan racing catless down pipe with cat back exhaust, short ram intake, E85 dyno tune, prosport boost gauge, oil pressure gauge, and AEM afr gauge.

With a claimed 430whp on a mustang dyno (have not seen sheets)

My question to all of you is how much do you think a car like this should go for and with those mods and are those hp numbers accurate. FYI this will pretty much be a daily for me.

thanks.

Would not pay more than excellent Blue Book. All those mods dont add value / $17,500

Edit: Found the ad! 27K? Way out of range IMO. The miles are great for sure but he's added a major premium for the mods added. There was another 04 listed w/138K miles. I would be more interested in that for $12K (looks clean)

Who did all the aftermarket engine work? I would pay maybe a $2,500 premium for parts, paying a premium for a low mileage Evo is absolutely worth it.

I would pay anywhere in the $17,500 like Minus said and maybe even go up to $20,000 but Evo 8s are becoming cheaper and you most likely will not get $20,000 for it when/if you try and resell it. His asking price is absolutely absurd.

Pics of the car show the susp slammed (suspension upside down). I would steer clear of that one

Thanks for the input everybody. ill leave the link for people to actually see the car http://w1w024.financeexpress.com/cli...ory_ID=3582685

This car popped up in the early days of my evo hunt I was just in the area and decided to stop by to take a quick look and see if my 6'7" *** would even fit and before i knew it i was handed the keys haha so i didn't really ask that many questions, buy i did manage to ask during the test drive if it was on coils and he said it was on springs which was a downer. Have yet to ask who the builder/tuner was but i would assume they dont know (pretty sure its an out of state car). As far as price they said they had wiggle room but im guessing they want atleast $21,000 for it, but like i said i have not really asked that many questions because i wanted to see the opinions of people who have owned these cars before.

Would be awesome to get some pointers on what to look out for when purchasing an evo 8/9.

Thanks again

For the mods power level seems about right. E85 bolt ons and a 71hta. May be slightly high for a Mustang dyno. But within reason

you need to table some faults like need brake caliper respray, stone chips, illegal air in take, illegal gauge location on column, make up some stuff to justify your price

yeah with all paper work, work done by a reputable shop, and mileage I'd consider 21k-23k but with what's given I'd say 18k-20k.

This past month I have learned a very valuable lesson on buying a modified car... DONT DO IT! It will be worth the wait to find one with basic bolt ons or stock especially if your budget is around 20k

I purchased a 03 Evo and I checked the car over well, along with 2 other buddies that helped me look over the car. Unfortunately previous owner did a terrible job with installation of mods and now after just rebuilding the head and putting about 800 miles on the car thinking it was happy I am putting in a new engine due to left over debris in the oil pan from previous owner cracking the valve cover and leaving the chunks of casting behind, I remind you I haven't even owned the car 2 months yet.. If you want a reliable daily, stock stock stock!
