^^ I'm scared I already killed the internals of the compressor though. I wouldn't mind getting that, but swapping all the stuff out and then to find out the compressor is toast anyway after all is said and done would be a huge bummer.

I took the shim out of it as well as the clutch ( it was in better condition ), and added it to my current compressor. The knocking noise started for a while, but after about 30-40 seconds it went away. Now what I do notice, is that the compressor is running all the time. If you shut the A/C off, it remains spinning without disengaging.

Any suggestions/tips appreciated.
r u 100% sure that the clutch is engaged when u r looking at the drivebelt turning the pully on the compressor? you need some tools for one when working on a/c systems. you a a/c manifold gauge kit and for sure fealer gauges to measure the gap. good thing you have a spare unit to swap.

Can anyone tell me if they've used this A/C compressor before with success?

Thanks for the reply! Will be buying this to replace my compressor. Can't wait to have ice cold A/C again.

So I received the compressor on Friday, and got to work on Saturday replacing it. It was kind of a pain trying to pull the compressor out from the bottom. But I managed.

I got the new A/C compressor installed, and fully vacuumed/charged and is now working with no issues. Here is hopefully to another 5 years with no A/C issues.

Issue for now, is solved.

Did you have to do any clutch work with this compressor from PitstopAuto? Or was it just plug and play? My compressor recently died out, and this brutal heat in Florida has been killing me, windows down just doesn't cut it.

it was plug & play for me. As I said. I just bought the refrigerant at Walmart and was on my way.

Thanks so much, I ordered it. I can't wait to have A/C again, especially in this Florida heat

Sorry for my late reply. It was all plug and play. Compressor already comes with oil in it which is a plus.

Put about 100 miles so far, and is running like a champ. Great to have A/C again.

PS: I lived in Miami, FL for 29 years until recently. I know what the brutal heat is like lol.

Does anyone have pictures? I have no idea what the shim looks like and I think I'm having a similar problem. A/C won't blow cold, shop told me the Compressor clutch was not engaging. He measured it somehow and said like the coil was shot or not giving off any voltage. Can anyone explain a little better and maybe post a picture of what exactly I should be looking at?

The shim itself is right there as soon as you take the clutch off. It basically looks like a small washer. Before removing it, try tapping the clutch area itself with the car on. Should the A/C engage compressor engage, at least you'll know the issue is the shim.
