Stock ECU record 8.77 @ 165 mph

Amazing what the stock ecu can do. I have been debating switching to Haltech but the stock ECU just does so well.

Car seems to also have a lot left in her.

Damn impressive. The car only weighs 2085 lbs too. I wonder how much more he would gain by going to a standalone ECU.

What would the Haltech allow that the stock ECU doesn't?

A lot of things. While the stock ECU is very impressive, it does leave a lot to be desired. People have been known to pick up a few hp simply by switching to a standalone ECU, all while using the same fuel and timing maps as the stock ECU. Datalogging is also much better with standalones. There are many other reasons why serious racers make the switch to a standalone.

Fail safes are usually the reason people make the switch to a stand alone ems.

The car is local to me. It was tuned at TPG outside of Pittsburgh, PA. I don't know the owner but have seen it run, and it rips. This shop also built a low 8 second GTR with full interior and a/c. Maybe someone who knows more will chime in.

His name is Chris aka Bummy and he calls it "tin can" weighs 2085 lbs. Still on the stock ecu but is going to make the switch to a Haltech and going to go with a bigger PTE. He was running a PTE6870 at the shootout when he set the record.

They tuned/built a customers GTR that runs low 8s best et is 8.02@175.
