Walbro 255 is it just drop in ?

There is a COBB tuning right out my back door and i need a new fuel pump i have done the 255 in mt STI in the past but is it just plug and play or do i need the install kit.
I have read mixed reactions on this they don't sell the install kit for the EVO8/9 there so just wondering also is the plugs the same no rewire needed ?

PS i need the fuel pump i am 99% sure it is what's causing my lean at WOT i have good air fuel all the way to 5500ish and i go from 11.2 to 12.9ish in my logs and wideband so sure this is causing my issue its just running out up top

Yes it is plug and play. I followed Evo Moto's guide. Reuse the following: Black rubber isolator, plastic oem grommet/spacer, o-ring seal, and fuel sock strainer.

Google search on the subject: https://www.google.com/search?q=walbro+255+install+evo+8&oq=walbro+255+in stall+evo+8&aqs=chrome..69i57.4111j0j4&{google:boo kmarkBarPinned}sourceid=chrome&{googlemniboxStar tMarginParameter}ie=UTF-8

I found there guide I just wasn't sure if there was multiple styles of a walbro 255 such as Subaru has one evo has a version and so on..
Also wasn't sure if it's just plug and play because in some pics of the evo install kit it has a wire plug that comes with it but maybe that's just a stock picture they use for the install kits

The Deastchwerks and Walbro pumps are all drop in.

Very easy install on any Evo.

Ya see that picture has a wire harness with it I was just going to buy the pump stand alone because I can get one from Cobb tuning right up the road from me but they don't sell the install kit for the evo 8/9.
That's what I was trying to figure out

On my Deastchwerks the original harness plugs right into the one on the aftermarket fuel pump. Just reuse the original o rings etc where you can.

Drop in yes.
Plug and play not always.
No re tune is necessary i dont think.
Some cars need to be hard wired.

How would you tell if it needs to be hard wired every guide I have found now doesn't say anything about hard wiring a walbro 255 yes on double pumped but not a 255 how would you tell on your if it needs to be hard wired.

Tuning is not an issue I self tuned my evo but am running out of fuel up top and I'm 100% sure it's the pump running out

There are a few different versions of the 255 pump. I dont remember the number or difference. Something about the inlet of the pump. But they are still 255lph.

Well Cobb specializes in lots of subarus but they also work on lots of Evo Xs all they said when I called them is they recommend I get the install kit to go with the pump I buy from them but they don't sell the install kit for the evo 8/9s. But reading in the forums I get mixed results on it some say yes get it others say it's useless

Well if you already have a wally you dont need to do any thing special, just replace. You will only tell what needs to be done until you remove your fuel pump and start comparing. Might need to cut, solder and maybe cut hose for pump. Nothing big that cant be done with help of evom members.

Quick question anyone have any thoughts on the DW200 I can grab that one with the install kit for the evo 8 for $100 I see it flows the same as the walbro. From reading the specs and some say it doesn't whine nearly as bad anyone seen anything bad about them I searched the forum and seems like no one had anything negative to say

I've switched from Walbro to the DW's in my Eclipse (now sold) and my Evo. Performance wise I've seen no difference in fuel delivery (329awhp E4, 276 fwhp GST) and they are definitely quieter. My girlfriend used to ask if something was broken because she'd hear the Walbro.

Quick Reply: Walbro 255 is it just drop in ?
