What did I just find in the oil pan?

Found this in the oil pan of a stock bottom end 4g63, 2005 evo 8.

Set the razor blade next to it for size reference.

Wrist pins are press fit, so any idea what it is?

Its very small tho. Like the size of a dime.

Im starting to think foreign object dropped in the head and made it thru an oil galley

How did you find it? Drop the pan or drain oil?

Don't think so, the outer diameter would be wider.

Maybe. I dropped the pan to inspect bearings because the motor has a noise on throttle that seems similar to developing rod knock. The bearings looked great, but I found this when cleaning the pan to reassemble it.

Maybe the noise is related. Maybe the block has pistons and does take a wrist pin clip or is it 100 percent stock that you know of?

Its a completely stock head, stock turbo, stock intake manifold.

Rods are definitely stock too. I'd be shocked if someone did pistons only.

What kind of noise are you hearing?

Hard to describe. Metal on metal repetitive clicking like my rod knock sounded in my own car, but the bearings checked out. Checked timing tensioner for dead spots, replaced it anyways. Maybe balance shaft bearings. Sounds under the intake manifold.
