evo 6 wont start
car wont start after a thing that looks like radio noise suppressor shorted out.
It is mounted on the LH passenger side of the rocker cover. It shorted out because the insulation on the cable was flaking off.
I have replaced both cam and crank angle sensors to no avail.
Could the shorting out have damaged the ECU ?

1) No sure if your car has a fuse for the ECU but I would check ALL fuses the in fuse box before doing anything else. Using the OHM setting on a multi meter you can test all the fuses without even taking them out...
2) Check for spark on the plugs. If you have spark put that back.
3) check if the ecu is spraying fuel by removing one of the spark plugs, cranking the engine and go back under the hood and see if you smell fuel in the missing plug cylinder. You can also connect a 12v LED bulb to one of the injectors and watch for it blinking when you crank the motor. LED only works in one direction so try connecting it in both directions if you don't know which wire is + and - to the wiring on the injector. PS regular 12v bulb will not work for this test as the injector pulse is to short to light up a incandescent bulb.

As stated above check EVERY single fuse in the car, in cabin fuse box and in engine room fuse box.
Then check the basics. Compression, fuel, ignition. Being that you shorted a power cable Compression can be ruled out for now.

Also the way i check my fuses quick is with a test light.
Good fuse : power at both fuse legs
Bad fuse : power to only one leg of fuse
Fuse with no power at either leg could be a fuse that only receives power during system operation. I.e only powered when using defroster.
