V band flange fitment help!

hi, i have a PT6466 turbo with a 3 inch V band exahaust flange, i also have a o2 housing with a V band flange and a clamp to join them together, what im confused about is that the flange on the turbo and the o2 housing are both flat and dont have a notch that goes in to one another, is it supposed to be like this? should i just tighten the clamp and everything is ready to go or is there supposed to be a notch that goes in to either the turbo or the o2 housing?

Both the surfaces are flat without any notchs.

uhhhhh....

vbands just mate up on a flat surface.. that how they work.

however, they need to be the same type of vband.
is that a PT vband fitting?
PT's take a special vband fitting and clamp i think.

yes its a PT fitting and clamp, what im not understanding is how will it seal up if one of the flanges doesnt attach with the other using some kind of a notch?

right now if i put the fitting on the turbo flange there is a gap, you can see it when you shine a light.

is there supposed to be a gap when both are placed on each other?

The vband clamp will seal them together all around the flange border, I think the stainless has a little ridge inside so they won't move , the steel just sits like yours.. but yeah vband clamp will seal them very tightly

no the stainless piece doesnt have a ridge or anything to hold or seal against the turbo flange, once you tighten the clamp it doesnt move but again there would be leakage i presume, or would the tightening of the clamp prevent it?
