damn, u guys are crazy! You would think that the evo is fast enough, but this is coming from a guy who slugs around in a stock lancer. I have a feeling i'm going to be right up there with you guys (talking about debt) when I get my evo this summer.

I don't know about the rest of you guys, but I don't like credit card debt at all...
I don't like car payments either. The insurance and taxes are bad enough and prolly run me around $2K-$3K per year
No way I get in debt fror the car or for the mods.... My motto now days is "pay as you go".... I don't even have a mortgage anymore. I paid it off with a 4% home equity line of credit and I hope to have that paid off soon as well. You guys are mostly young and can afford to make payments, some of us old codgers cannot be getting in debt this late in life

No debt for me, now that my Evo was paid off from the insurance company

Being young I shouldn't get into another car payment

I'm pretty careful with my money as I'm far from rich. Thus far I owe about 20 on the car and have payed off my credit card after every round of mods.

The Evo hasn't been good for my savings, though. They have only shunk a little, but I should be growing them...

i just went through it all and I owe 24 on my car, 6500 on my bike and like 5500 on my credit cards. Still less than my yearly salary by a long shot, but I need to clean up some of that c/c debt before I go silly with the car, just to feel "comfy" Sell that damn bike too. Anyone want a bike?

I'd sell the Evo and spend the money on the Z06. Thats such a wild, insane car with more prestige....oh YOU SUCK! What a "tough" decision that is.....lol, kidding.

Hey, at least I know my bike will smoke your car. Just let me sulk knowing that....haha

a bagillion dollars?? really, thats not a deciding factor. comfort level for yourself is. someone who lives with mommy and makes a 1000 a month can afford an EVO better than someone making 100k a year with a 3 million dollar home and 2 50k cars. see my point??

You make a good point, but the poor sap with a $100K salary would be in deep doodoo if he had to pay for a 3 million dollar house and (2) $50k cars. Hell, he could not even afford the taxes on all that stuff

To address the question of salaries, I think they vary from near zero to high six figures. There are actually some guys (and girls too) whose parents bought their EVOs. There are a few more who either make megabucks or inherited it. I'd guess the average EVO driver makes somewhere between $40K and $70K

My $.02

ALOT....haha...i just laugh at money know. i figure at some point i will grow up and realize what i am doing is stupid...i just love cars

lets see:

1st Car) 2000 galant GTZ (still paying for...alot) spent about 12K on supgercharger, race built engine, and many other mods...This car right now is just sitting around collecting dust.

2nd Car) 2003 Evo (paying alot for) spent about 3K so far in mods and stuff

I make about 60K a year and end up with about 100$ left over every month after all my bills...HAHA...i really dont know why i am laugin...i am just freakin stupid

Well I kind off did well on my trade in.

2002 WRX wagon 48K some body work needed nothing major but a new front bumper cover and painting of the rear bumper cover. One set of tires were almost gone so I got 16,300 for it.

But here is how I really made out well with my trade in

28800-16,300 = 12500. I had to pay tax on 12500 instead of 28800.

Now 12500 x .06= 750 tax

28800 x .06 = 1728 Tax if I just came into the dealer with no trade in

1728-750= 978 Money save on tax for trade in

16,300+978= 17278 now trade in price

Now my tranny was going and no dealer would cover it so here is another 2.5K I saved and no body work $ spent so I can add in another 750.

Now my Trade in was worth to me $20,528.

I saved my self 4228+ full .06 on tax. over a privet sell and not going throw the whole bull crap about test drives and I can't get a bank to loan me money crap witch is priceless......

So I think I did well.

Eric
