Evo 2 Importing

The stock viscous front LSD doesn't make a noticeable difference in driving experience, but bumps up the value a bit! A good front LSD is a must on these cars to make it more enjoyable when driven aggressively. They love to understeer, but thankfully there are many differential options available to help out. The Cusco RS 1-way is the go-to diff, in my opinion. I have the OEM viscous front LSD right now but it's being swapped out for a Ralliart 1-way plated LSD.

I think you did the right thing. If I listened to every person that said I was making a poor decision with a car, I'd have missed out on a lot of fun experiences and probably being driving an Accord or whichever of their favorite cars they suggested One of my current cars is one of the most enjoyable cars I've ever owned. Literally all but TWO people told me how much of a mistake it was. I don't regret the purchase one bit.
If someone had approached me with your car and I had the cash in my pocket, I probably would have done the same.
Congrats!

I am really impressed with how good a shape that thing is in. It's in better shape than a lot of Evo 10's here!
It seems like it was well-loved by it's previous owner(s)
What's the undercarriage look like? Same shape?

Typically a car from Japan will look even better underneath than it does up top. My Evo 1 looked awful up top with scrapes, dents and missing paint on all the panels, but the chassis beneath is beautiful. Rust isn't really a thing unless it sits for a long time in a field. This one would look very nice underneath, I'm sure. I would still drop the headliner to see if there is anything going on with the roof, though.

Changed the oil today, I think I have the wrong filter on there... First JDM part issue encountered ha. Will get the correct one online and order 5 or 6. But anyway yeah its nice underneath. I'll get some pictures once I put it up on jack stands. The car needs brakes, and will do a full fluid replacement. Correction on the coilovers, they are Cusco no HKS. I bought copper spark plugs for it, but upon inspection the existing plugs are brand new iridiums. The car will need some work. It is 25yrs old. Has about 70k miles. I believe the timing belt has already been done but I will inspect it as well. I removed a grounding kit which I guess are really popular in japan and started just checking and cleaning under the hood as well. The car was recleared I believe as there are some imperfections in the clear/paint. I imagine OE paint is crap like on all evos and its common for the clear to flake and fade. But I dont mind, this car is a driver.
I've been driving this car every day just to scoot around town. Even took the whole family for a scenic drive to a state park area near by. Weather this week is in the 70s. This car feels so much smaller than the 05.

Yea, I didn't understand his post either. The country is a bunch of islands in the Pacific. I would imagine it's kind of like what cars are like in California. Depending on where you live, they are either pristine or beat up, based on if they lived closer to the ocean, inland, or in the mountains.
