Evo 8 Buying Needing Advice

So im looking at purchasing an evo 8 2003 (gsr). The car is currently needing an engine rebuild, bearing has spun out. The guy that im buying it from is currently rebuilding it, will be dyno'ing it, installing coilvers and refurbing it. He owns a reputable garage close to me.

The odo also has 67,000km and I ordered a vin check (paid $80),and says it has done 87,500km on it from 7 years ago. The guy also doesnt have any service/maintenance books to give me.

Is it worth purchasing an evo that the km's may have been wound back with no service books to give, has anyone had any experience in buying an evo without books?

The motor is being rebuild no big need to worry about the miles. I would more check the frame rails and underside of the car make sure its rust free and straight. Make sure the car does not have a lot of rust. Make sure he replaces the oil cooler since it spon a bearing. They will have to change all the driveline fluids with the motor out of the car so less to worry about.
I would think its fine with a out records. It might be worth talking to them and doing a check the breaks, clutch, and t-case. If anything needs replacing just pay the money upfront since the car is apart.

I bought a car with all service records AND rust. If I had to choose one, I rather not have the rust. Trust me on this one

id say as long as the body is in great condition, why worry about the mileage.
