Rust converter behind rear subframe.

Good day,

I finally have my car back on the road but it needs rust proofing. I can't find a shop to rent a lift to remove the rear subframe and spray up in the wheel wells. I know some people who spray rust prevention for a living will use a long nozzle to get up in hard to reach areas. Is this something that can be done on the Evolution 8? Will it get everywhere that is an issue?

you wont be able to properly spray the topside of the fuel tank but using some flexible nozzle is better than no anti rust protection. try power washing first

i dont know what kind of anti rust treatment youre going for but you have to try to save the tank. there are access panels under the rear seat, maybe you can tackle some areas thru there.

What do you mean save the tank? I found some people who will let me use their nice garage when the time comes and they have a lift. I am going to POR15 it. It's a rust converter and then a top coat. It works for rally cars here and works great on evos. Also even if you have flakes it turns it rock hard, it's weird.

well since you probably drive on salt, that will stay on top of the tank and accelerate the rust. that area dont get washed. replacements are hard to find

you can drop the subframe and tank with the car on jackstands using a normal hydraulic jack.. Not a walk in the park but doable.. Tanks like to rust on top ,as well as the area above the sub frame

I found some people willing to let me use their lift and personal shop to drop the tank and everything. Going to be interesting.
