thanks
--Actually I'm very glad this was posted as a new thread. If it was a relpy to a previous thread I never would have seen it. Old threads are where you can be guaranteed to see OLD info rehashed a thousand times.

If you have a problem with me then you need to take it to PMs.

Really...uncalled for. I'm with RaX on 2 things.
1. This isn't necessarily relevant to US consumers. Similar to j-spec and eurospec we may get different cars. In fact, more likely than not. I don't think this rumor is any more factual than any other rumor posted.
2. If you have a problem with a member, moderator, vendor...whatever...PMs are the place to talk.
Honestly, I don't care what the Evo comes over as. I can't afford it regardless and I wouldn't get one unless I had a huge surplus income....BUT...I am interested just because the Evos are such respectable cars. Personally, I'd be willing to bet a lot of people will be disappointed when the VIII's hit the US shores, but I think the car will still leave its mark, that most people will be pleased, and it will be worth every penny as well. I guess we'll see.

Nah, I just think that people who actually intend to buy the car are looking for what they want to hear and using anything vaguely concrete in order to reinforce the idea that they'll get it. I don't mean it in a derisive way, but I think everyone's anticipation and hopes are in the way of the facts.

I disagree that people will be disappointed with the U.S. EVO VIII. Again, it will be their flagship car (as the 3000GT was). When the WRX came here, not many were disappointed, I sure wasn't. The fact that WE GOT A WRX is awesome. The fact that we are getting an EVOLUTION is 100x more awesome. It's going to be much faster than a WRX in STOCK form. You can modify this car.
I mean, what else can you get for this price, with 4-doors, a 6-speed, and this much acceleration and all wheel drive? Nothing under 40K is going to come close to it.
The U.S. Spec Evolutions are going to kick butt. Stop being so pessimistic until the hard facts are unveiled by Mitsubishi. Patience is a virtue, and it's not that long of a wait.... it's SEPTEMBER after Saturday (tomorrow) - October - November - December - JANUARY .....
I have faith that Mitsubishi will not half-*** the car. I expect some reduction in power due to emissions, 'tis life in the USA, but THINK .... LANCER EVOLUTION 8 ... 6 speed .... AFTERMARKET will be there no doubt .... in the USA. What more can you ask for? The car could look like a pile of poo for all I care, I'm buying this car because it is a real PERFORMANCE car, and those on the road who see EVOLUTION on the back of your car will know what you have, and will appreciate it. 0-60 in 5 seconds or less? That's what Mitsubishi SAID. So it should be believed. And all wheel drive? It's a FOUR CYLINDER!!!!! That's INSANE!!!! STOCK!!!!! So let's EMBRACE this ... it's going to be good.
