Damn. It would have been fun to drive both those cars back-to-back. Props to the Spec-C.

But, the war is far from won .

To think that after driving the MR, Road and Track basically said forget the Evo... man, there's a storm a brewing...

And i'm chomping at the bit for the next -Scoobie shoot-out.

I just hope a Euro journals come through sooner than later.

Here's a comparison of the Spec C and MR: http://www.bestmotoring.jp/digest/BM...m0404_225k.ram

I'm sure there will be another comparison yet to come, once the new Spec C is released in Japan.

Actually, thats not a skidpad number there. That is just a peak lateral G reading. The skidpad is a constant trip around the 200ft circle. Very different circumstances. Either way though, 1.1 peak G is pretty kick ***.

I'd take either car, really. I love Mitsu, but I have friends with WRX's, and they are kick *** too. The only thing I don't like about the Spec-C is that they went with an equal length exhaust manifold on it. Got rid of the classic Scooby rumble, just a normal 4 cyl sound now. Bummer. But, I wouldn't turn it down because of that.

The MR is definitely coming this fall Sept/Oct '04.

Unclear about the AYC, but it's coming with the ACD so the AYC may make it.

Check out the MR racing thread in general.

Hey Rax, there's a new Spec-C on the Way?

From Best Motoring 05-2004 at Tsukuba:

STI ..... 1'07"66
MR GSR ..... 1'05"69
MR RS 5 MT ..... 1'05"33
STI Spec C ...... 1'05"30
NSX-R ..... 1'05"18
MR RS 6 MT ..... 1'04"50

As a point of comparison the 8 GSR was 1'05"93 but under different conditions.

BTW note the timing difference between the RS models. The 6 speed was 0.83 seconds faster than the 5 speed. Driver, gearbox or a combination? You decide.

Isn't a Spec-C comparble to an RS version of the Evo? I thought it was a stripped down version... Guess I was wrong?

The Spec-C is more than just a stripped down STi... different suspension, aerodynamics, engine dynamics...

Really the Spec-C is closer to an Evo MR RS.

what if both were tuned? which has more potential? cuz the evo is already at a pretty high boost.
