Don't get me wrong, I'd still rather have the overall package the Evo is.

Sorry, I just don't buy that any FWD car can be as fast as an RWD or AWD drive car on a track when all cars are stock. Maybe race cars, maybe, but not stock for sure.

1) This is not surprising, considering the EVO was AM's car of the year last year.
2) Be careful: I raced a very modded 04 SRT4 on a long straight and that son-of-a-***** was right on me the whole time. They can get pretty quick with good mods... Still sucks on turns, though. And I hate the look. It looks like those cabs that are all jacked up in the back to accomodate heavy luggage..

the car is bad-***, if you are into cars , especially the LANCER evolution, I cant see hoiw you cant be impressed with the SRT-4.....
cant be faster than an S2000? hello...., who dyno's higher, who has better tires, tokico shocks etc....... I admit the S2000 should be a bit better of a track car, which the test shows, but the SRT 4 is no slouch either

I'm surprised how few folks actually have track experience on this *Evo* forum.. and are completely off base on what cars are very capable track cars..

Well, it's safe to assume that a good track car should have some quality handling traits to start..
Which according to every article I have read, it DOESN'T.
Have I tracked NEON??Sure..
Not the SRT4 mind you..
Tracked my EVO? Not yet but will..
This doesn't mean I or WE can't read the reviews and listen and learn from those that HAVE.
In other words, track time in both of these cars won't make anyone GOD. Just a tad more educated having had hands on experience in both cars..thats all.
Forgive me here for saying, but I respect the SRT-4 as a lot of bang for the buck..
But thats all.

Let's hope they'll reconsider once GM gets the Pontiac Solstice on the market and the Elises start selling here. Hopefully Dodge will see that there are real enthusiasts out there in the market for small, light, RWD cars with powerful engines.
