Maybe they underrate it so that they can keep selling the car to its major market. I would guess its market includes alot of young males...Lower HP figures=lower insurance.

The Neon has been an overachiver on the race track and auto-x for years, it just lacked the power to challenge the bigger guns. Now it has it. In T2, which is basically a stock category, the SRT is classed with Mustangs, S2000's, Transams, Boxters, etc., and is winning its share of races.
