k&n vs. ralliart drop in?

Vivid has a ralliart foam drop in filter, any reason to believe this is an upgrade from the k&n? Just wondering-

I had the ralli art,,, wanted more filtration,, got the KN,,, had it in for 5 minutes,,,, took it out and got the ralli art back in,,,, Bigger gains with the ralli art.

Then I got the HKS RS,,,, and I have to say the ralli art drop in has better gains than the open air HKS.

BTW,,,,, I have a "new" 5 minute used K&N for sale,,,,, $60 shipped.

And maybe the HKS RS,,,,,,, $270 shipped,,,,,

I just picked up the RalliArt filter from Vivid Racing last week. It is not something that you will gain HP from, but the turbo spools up quicker vs. stock and the BOV/turbo is much more noticable (soundwise) over stock! I don't plan on adding more air to the engine until I upgrade the exhaust side of things first. The car already runs lean stock, so adding more air is just gonna be detrimental IMHO! Just a thought...

I have the Ralliart drop in filter, and it's funny because I was thinking that I had been noticing the stock bov more than i used to and it must be because of the filter! haha, anyways, i don't notice much difference from stock, but the turbo may spool up a little quicker. I would get it over the K&N though. Also, I got mine from Z1 Automotive. It took awhile to get, but that was because he had to get it from Japan. If Vivid has them in stock, I would definitely go that route.

What are your opinions about:

1- Stock filter
2- K&N drop in filter
3- Ralliart drop in filter
4- Cone/open filter like HKS / K&N

The K&N company has many years of research and a high reputation... I can't believe that this filter is piece of crap.

My experience with non turbo engine is that drop-in filter like K&N are better than cone filters and it gives 10Hp mid range and 2 hp top end range.

Man, if you can notice that big of a difference between the K&N vs. Ralliart, you don't ever need to be on a dyno because your butt dyno is by far better.

Really, I thought I read in almost every tuner magazine that they found the USDM EVO VIII to run super lean and that installing any type of aftermarket intake system would be a waste unless adding more fuel was addressed first...I will have to look into it more. L8er...

I think that if you put on an aftermarket intake like the HKS RS or the APEX'i intake, then it will run lean unless you tune in extra fuel, anyways, I'm not saying that the K&N filter is no good, but I figured that Ralliart would probably know the best type of filter to use and so that is why I got theirs. It is different material and stuff than the K&N.

Ralliart filter is great. It fits perfect with the aluminum shield with rubber seals. You can feel the gain vs. stock especially if you have an ecu upgrade or tuned.

I dont think that a 2-5 hp difference is measurable by you butt. I have the K&N and it works for me at half the price of the Ralliart one. If you got the money to spend go for it.
