No options on RS

One thing that's still not 100% clear about the RS is the options list. Originally there was to be an "Urban Jungle" package with A/C, power windows & locks, and a few other items. However it seems this package is vaporware-- from the RS deliveries reported on this forum and sites like cardirect.com etc, it looks like RS comes with A/C standard, and that's it.

Can an RS owner or someone reputable confirm exactly what options are and are not in fact avail on the RS?

I have a WW 04' RS, there are NO options available and the car has AC even if you ordered with out the AC. You can get Red or White and that is it.

That's correct.

After some more digging, it seems Mitsu went back at some point and changed the original 04Nov03 press release on the RS. The paragraph about the Urban Jungle package described in the original release has since been removed, and a/c has been removed from the "deleted items" list.

Original 04Nov03 press release:
"By selecting the Lancer Evolution RS, buyers are opting to delete air conditioning; power doors, locks and mirrors; the rear wing spoiler; AM/FM/CD stereo; Sport ABS with EBD; HID headlamps; rear window wiper; keyless entry; vanity mirrors; rear assist grips; leather-wrapped parking brake lever; trunk room trim; sound deadening materials; the titanium-colored center panel; and color-keyed door mirrors and handles are switched to black.

The RS adds a front helical limited slip differential, rear end cross bar, front fixed intermittent wipers, and manual mirrors. For drivers who want to keep some of the creature comforts, an Urban Jungle Package adds air conditioning; power windows, locks, and mirrors; keyless entry; and color-keyed door mirrors and handles."

04Nov03 press release as it exists today:
"By selecting the Lancer Evolution RS, buyers are opting to delete power windows, door locks and mirrors; the rear wing spoiler; AM/FM/CD stereo; Sport ABS with EBD; HID headlamps; rear window wiper; keyless entry; vanity mirrors; rear assist grips; leather-wrapped parking brake lever; trunk room trim; sound deadening materials; the titanium-colored center panel; and color-keyed door mirrors and handles are switched to black.

The RS adds a front helical limited slip differential, rear end cross bar, front fixed intermittent wipers, and manual mirrors."

Pretty sneaky.

Interesting -- the weight savings of the RS compared to the VIII is only 88 lbs. I assume that the VIII in that comparison does not have any of the options, like the sunroof, that add weight.

I would have thought that Mitsu could have shaved off more than 88 lbs.
