Question Tires

I got my car at carmax, used. I saved a lot of money on it, bought it $25k with 14k miles on it. I thought it was a rip, but I couldn't wait for the new one to come out. The marietta, Atlanta area had no EVO what soever.

Anyway, the tire blows up, because the sidewalls been broken on each front tires.

I goto carmax, thinking that they wont cover it under warranty but what do you know, they did it without asking too much questions. They even offer to repair the rims that had few dents in it.

But here is the thing. I go there on Thursday, and they gave a rental car and tells me that it'll take 5 business days.

So it'll be ready on wednesday. Is that odd? Fixing dents on the rims and putting tires on and balancing takes that long?

what you think?

I haven't seen too many dealers warranty tires. I would not say a word and count your lucky stars...

Dealers oftentimes subcontract body and wheel repairs to specialized companies.

So the guy who fixes dents on wheels probably only comes by the dealership once a week....and your car just has to wait for him to come by next week to do the repair.

They'll probably send the rims out to get fixed. I highly doubt, even with a bodyshop, that they are equipped to fix dented rims. Usually takes a specialty company to do this.

True, my father has a guy in his shop that does that. And he goes out to a different dealer's lot every day. So it could take a few days, like if his day for that lot is Friday, and you dropped it off on Monday or something. Plus, if you are having the Advans put back on most places don't stock them. Unless you are close to a regional distribution center, it would probably take a couple days to get them.

I'd also say that if you are getting a pair of new Advans for free; let them keep it for however long they want! Becuase free99 for a set of those is an awesome deal.

I meant for sale, new.

But I saw a black evo around Cheshire bridge area once and that's really it.

I have to goto kennesaw to see some cars.

Although, I've been seeing Way too many Z8's and Ferrari 555 maranellos, 360 modena.

I saw a diablo SV at Barrett parkway last week. He fueled up at BP every 30 hour tho and had his doors open while he fueled up (jackass).

I'm getting fairely impressed with atlanta now. It's getting up there in style and sophistication of cars. It's not all trucks, cameros, mustangs (especially) and benz anymore.

I wish I could go with ya, but I don't have my car this week (the topic).

I'll go with ya next week tho.

They replaced my right rim with a new one. They said it costed more to repair then to buy a new one.

Two new tires, one new rim, carwash, + labor = $800

My Cost? $0.00 WooHooo

Just thought I'd tell you.

Your 14K mileage figure suggests to me that your car did not have its original rubber. Wow did you luck out getting tires thrown in. Could it be that the tires that were on your car were no longer safe so they are covering themselves? If I were in your situation I would consider asking what kind of tires they are planning "give you." Let me guess; they did not give you anything in writting about what they will actually put back on. If they are going to put on something less than you think you want on your car they might let you come in with some cash on an upgrade. My experience with used car people is they are great at saying one thing then handing you the shaft with a well crafted excuse on the end. Hey, they have to earn a living. BTW you used car people out there can flame me all you want, I'll only laugh.

I've already got it back today. New Avan tires for the front. The old tires were in really good shape, but had broken side walls.

Plus, the rim was replaced with the factory rim.

Good deal. So I got 2 new stock Advan tires at 14K mile used car for free.

Actually, the tires are Yokohama AVS E100. So I got a brand new AVS E100 tires, which is Ultra high performance tires from Yokohama.

So it's better than stock tires.

I don't think they are better than the stock tires interms of dry weather grip. However they will last longer if used under similar conditions.

Lucky they are fixing all that for you. Don't ask too many questions.

What color is your EVO? I am in Kennesaw too. Seems like alot of EVOs in Marietta/Woodstock/Kennesaw lately.
