And you wouldn't sign a further petition if as a result you transferred that driveline stress to say ...... your gearbox? And it blew up?

This is one other reason I wouldn't buy an EVO. Way to popular among high school kids with rich, stupid parents.

I'd say Corey got it right in one go. I'm only 18 and I sure as hell wouldn't trust myself with a car like an Evo. Its just too powerful and too sensitive to really be suited for someone whos had their license max 4 years. With a car like that I'd be gunning it at every light, revving my engine at every opportunity and basically beat on the car like no ones business. Other younguns might say differently but their BSing straight out their ***. Its just an age thing. Teens think they need to prove themselves at all opportunities (ie. seeing who can drink the most at a bar) while other older crowd are perfectly happy simply knowing they 1. Earned the car, 2. can handle the car, and 3. if necessary beat the teen sitting next to them at the light revving his engine and destroying his clutch.

Thats where 1 and 10000 teens are different. Most are ignorant and stupid like you and then a couple of us are halfway smart enough to take care of our own cars and have SELF CONTROL.

Its not a matter of being ignorant and stupid. Its simple nature. Its a hormone issue and a male pride thing, a sort of "pissing up the wall" just using cars. All teenagers do it. Unless you have no testosterone in you then you do it as well. The same reason why younger teens are full of themselves, self conscious and angry at everyone, its part of growing up and maturing.

How is it simple nature to beat on an evo? i'm the last one to be snotty and tell the world I own an evo. I find myself driving the family beater (1993 accord) around more than my evo.

The only racing i've done in my evo was at two different race tracks up here. I've yet to accept a challenge from the numerous honda civics, dodge neons and cavaliers I encounter on the streets here. I can guarentee you won't find me in a newspaper article reading that a teen died after doing 100+ mph on a highway. I just have more brains than that. Im sorry I have a little more maturity thn the next teen. And everyone but evodave in this post knows me so how can everyone on this forum hate me?

Sorry if I came off harsh in my earlier post, but that is just the way I feel.

You say your parents help you out for the most part? That is still being sponsored by mom and pops racing to me. You wouldn't be driving that car if you had to flip the bill on a 500-600 something a month car payment and had to get a $30,000 loan by yourself.

Yes....the Evo is getting to popular with younger kids that stand there and beg their mom and dad to buy them one. This is the reason I got rid of my ITR and B16 EG hatchback. Every kid had one and the Honda ricers were giving Honda guys like me a bad name. I see this going in the same direction with the Evo sometimes.

The guy that I spoke about earlier is a cool guy. It is just his Evo goes straight to his head. You can actaully stand there and watch him get out of his car and look around to see who is looking at him. Like he is some kind of Hollywood star or something. Myself, when I pull up somewhere and see someone looking at my car I just get out and walk away. If they want to talk to me they will. My car isn't that big of a deal to me.

BADEVO....Don't know what to tell you. If you read my post it was pointed more to the young Evo drivers. They are not owners being their cars are probably in their parents name. Now if your parents bought you your car and you live at home then I can see where you took offense. I'm sure there are some cases that the stock clutch went bad and started to slip, such as yours, and it was a defect. I'm just mainly talking about the younger crowd cause from my experience with the younger crowd here they are probably guilty of abusing the car more than just driving it. Sorry if I offended you.

Corey - Your a class act bro, I mean it. Thanks for clarrifying. I do agree that we have some spoiled kids in the EVO community as does every other forum. And yes I guess when I was 17 I thought I was the Dale Earnhart of the streets too. LOL but after attending driving schools I realized how little I actually knew about driving.

30 years old, parents helped me on my first car by "adding" me to there insurance. Thats about it. It was a 86 Jetta back in 92.

When I bought my EVO in Montana the sales person had just sold a black one to a 17 year old kid whos dad just bought it for him because of his good grades. that is bull #@$!!. I saved for 6 years for the EVO to come to the US.. Oh by the way I am from Holland (which is in Europe) and they have and the evolutions since the begining of time. Guess who had there EVO totalled.. yep you guessed it.. Everyone is right that an evo is not a NORMAL CAR. or for that matter any new turbo charged car. they are way more dangerous than you youngins think.. if you youngins can wait til your more experienced in driving i would wait until 2006 when the release of the evo9 is coming.

Everyone did it when they were younger. It is just the way guys are. I guess I'm just trying to speak a little knowledge to the younger crowd. It's not fun to have a nice car and being broke all the time because of your driving habits.

I've tried helping and leading the guy (35 psi guy ) in the right direction with his car. So far he has a AEM intake and a Thermal cat back on it. I actually got the cat back for him. I always hear that him and two other young Evo owners are always down at the local street racing hangouts racing and just trying to prove a point. He actually asked me one night if he could buy my stock clutch. That is when I knew his clutch was starting to go out. He has been without his car for about 3 weeks now because he didn't have the money to buy a clutch for it. He's really enjoying his car now.

[QUOTE=expl0d]How is it simple nature to beat on an evo?

I'm not saying its simple nature to beat on an evo. I'm saying its simple nature for teenagers to do stupid things just to get some attention. As much as we like to say we're "mature" or "responsible" we all do dumb things every once in awhile. Theres a reason for the legal drinking age, smoking age and driving age. Would you trust a 13 year old to make smart choices involving mixing drinking and driving?

Its not a normal car, but you guys are acting like its a 9 second crotch rocket. and between owning a RWD sequential turbo car, the evo is a lot safer. Thanks for making this stay on evom unpleasent due to your critisisms

I don't think anyone here was trying to directly criticize you. Sorry if it came across that way but we were simply trying to point out that it could easily not be the car thats causing the problem. You posted a problem and got some responses. What were you expecting, everyone to throw up their arms and declare the evo clutch a piece of crap and rally behind you?
