Compiled List of "things to inspect" on a new EVO
I've been lurking and searching here for a while and have been trying to get an idea of what to fix, what to tweak, and what to check into (warranty and TSB).
So far, here's what I've come up with, please add on -- mostly to help the new owners who, like me, are probably suffering from information overload.
Engine:
Check all hose clamps and tighten if necessary. Optonal: replace with T-bolt clamps.
Transmission:
Optional: change differential oils, but leave the transfer case stock.
Interior:
Rattle patrol (but get used to a few)
Recaro seat clip can come off the side, very easy to fix
Paint chipping due to improperly aligned door striker
Exterior:
Check for rust on rear bumper, either have a warranty fix, or remove and touch up yourself (it won't be visible).
I'm not really looking for a list of mods, or every problem people have had. Just the stuff that a lot of people have had, so the newbies can keep an eye out for it and get it fixed. (including me)![Smilie](https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)

Exterior:
Tire pressure. From the dealer I had over 45 PSI in each tire (optimum PSI is labeled on driver door panel sticker)!
Paint. Look for any marks, swirl, or scratches BEFORE LEAVING THE DEALER!
Wheels. Look them over for curb contact.
Engine:
Oil. I had an extra QUART in mine at time of purchase!
O2 Sensor wired. Make sure it's seated in its little harness on the exhaust manifold heat sheild or it could get burned. Mine was laying on top of the manifold!
Accelorator cable. Make sure it's in its harnes also, to avoid accelorator binding.
Washer Fluid. Make sure there is plenty for the IC spreyer and the windsheild spreyer.
Drivetrain:
Tranny Fluid. Check the level.
Hope that helps!

I have another thread in the Show and Shine section. Search under "Recaro Problem" and it should come up. I'm about to run out the door or I'd provide a link.

Why would you 'leave the transfer case stock' (in regards to the fuid)?? When I swapped fluids at around 10K miles, my transfer case goo was really black and cruddy. The rear diff was very clean though (someone on here once said that the rear diff fluid was synthetic, but not the rest.. my experience seems to mirror this).

Maybe I'm remembering this wrong, but I thought someone said that people were having problems when the switched the fluid to anything other than stock.
Or am I mistaken and it's the center or rear diff fluid?
See, that's why I posted this thread![Smilie](https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
