Moving Evo A/C dials to fit dual-DIN stereo

I don't know if there has been a topic about this - if there is just direct me to it!

I'm not sure how the American-spec Evos are kitted, but we in Australia are receiving an Evo 8 spec that has a single DIN space for the stereo located above non-climate control a/c dials. There is a vacant area directly below, that I believe is merely a storage area, but on JDM Evos it is where the climate control is located as they get a double-DIN stereo.

I was wondering if anyone has moved their air conditioning controls to the lower vacant section so they can fit double-DIN stereo units as in the JDM configuration?

What parts do I need - such as trim pieces, where do I get them, and are there instructions anywhere on evolutionm.net for how to do the job?

If anyone has the particular JDM Mitsu part numbers to do this job, it would be appreciated. I want to retain the factory look as much as possible.

Hey,

I was woundering the same thing, putting the A/C controls where the storage bin is, putting gauges where the A/C controls are now then put a dvd head unit in. I have not seen this yet but was thinking of doing it once i had the money and know how.

Appreciate the thread reference, but he's really doing it the hard way. Can't you just order the trim bits from Mitsu and relocate it down below?

Does anyone know if the Climate Control unit from the JDM Evo is just plug and play? If so, it seems like a good alternative. All you need is the 'head unit'.
