What won’t void the warranty

With all this talk about Mitsubishi voiding warranties, is there anything out there that wont void the warranty?

Because of the Mag-moss warranty act, anything that meets or exceeds the manufactures requirements should be OK, like, fluids that meet the proper grade for the application. Or components which have been tested and meet the DOT requirements.

Obviously from Mitsubishis point of view they will probably try to void your warranty for the smallest things, but what can we do to our cars and be fairly confident that Mitsubishi cant really come at us for these mods.

What are your thoughts on the following if you think they might void a part of the warranty please specify.

Feel free to add anything that might not be on the list.

Gauges I would think a boost gauge would be ok, but an egt tapped into the manifold might not be

Turbo timer

Wheels

Cosmetics, body kits, interior or exterior

Cat back exhaust

Short throw shifter

Shifter bushings

Clutch line (keep restrictor)

Grounding Kit

Brake lines

Brake rotors

Brake pads

Braces

i think shifter bushings might void the warrenty if you ran into a trans problem.... They'd blame it on the install and the bushings themselves.

Looking at your car cross-eyed while attempting to wax it will void your warranty....

TT and boost gauge.. No problems from the Mitsu dealer yet... I've had a steering pump and front (cracked) pads replaced. They seem pretty cool.

Nastea I'm not looking for things that will take a court battle to win (good luck to you and t by the way)

I just want us to try and compile a list of things that probably wont make a big deal over.

I'm still stock, and would like to maintain some sort of resemblance of a warranty.

It sounds like will be more than willing to make a big deal over almost everything.

It makes sense they might fuss about the shifter parts, so maybe it would take litigation to win that one, even though I cant see how reducing friction and freeplay in the the shifting mechanism would be a bad thing.

Thanks for the replies, keep it coming

Why do you have this in quotes is that in the warranty???

A grounding kit could be considered a performance enhancing part, and since offers one, wouldn't an aftermarket one of equal quality keep your warranty intact?

Getting sticky R compound tires will enhance the performance those wont void your warranty.

Keep it coming

They won't void a K&N panel filter being put in. I know this cause they sell them at the dealer.

It really depends on the dealership I think...

Stohlman Service Department for example, will void your warranty even your car is bone stock

Short throw will void in most cases, also a clutch line and brake components. If it's determined the problem is a direct result of a mod, they won't cover it.

My dealer said I can change the wheels, but they have to be of the same size and offset as the OEM or they can void the suspension components.

A few others that you missed that will void in most instances, not all: Any boost controller, ECU reflash, test pipe, springs/coilovers, battery relocation, turbo upgrade (duh), intake/exhaust manifold, injectors, fuel pump, intake in some cases, downpipe, intercooler and pipes, cams, cam gears (any internals), clutch, flywheel, engine management.

My dealer basically will void anything that adds performance. Cosmetic parts are okay and braces, audio, most gauges.

Well, you can buy a mitsu, just drive it home then park it in your garage and look at it.
