Post Did You Watch the Evo Presentation Video at the Dealer? [MERGED]

I just bought an Evo VIII 2 weeks ago. When I bought the car I bought it through a local dealer which had to have the car delivered. They told me that I had to watch a video that Mitsubishi makes all buyers of the Evo watch. I had to go to work that day and had surgery the next day so I was unable to watch the video. The dealership here could not or would not get the video for me to watch here, they want me to travel 2 hours to go watch it.

What is on the video? Should I worry about watching it? Is it pretty important?

tell them to lick your ***. i didn't hear of any such video when i bought my car. you can tell them that if you want to lose out of a 32,000 dollar sale because you wouldn't travel 2 hours to watch a video, then you'll take your business to a dealer that has a brain in their head. cause thats just stupid.

no disrespect to the EVO, but you're not buying a Ferrari ENZO.

I didn't hear about the video until I read about it here. Never mentioned at the dealership I bought from.

The video isn't worth your time. The video itself is just doing an overview of the Evo itself. It shows you each component (the Brembos, the intercooler, etc...) of the Evo. How to maintain, etc... Nothing really new worth noting. The video MIGHT possibly be available for download on timzcat's server (I'm not sure if it's still there).

All the video really is is a sales pitch for the Pit Pass.

I wonder if just younger buyers were made to watch the video??? Or maybe they were just stupid, took things a little too serious, and made some people watch it. Kind of looked like a video to inform their salesmen/women of exactly what the Evo is. None of them seem to really know (or at least did not know back in May when I bought the car) anything about the car.

No joke. A multiple choice test and it obviously wasn't made up at the dealer, it came from Mitsubishi. Now the dealer didn't give a damn about the answers but they no **** gave a written test.

You will be ok if you READ THE MANUAL!

There are two videos. One discusses pit pass and the special maintenance requirements. The other discusses the unique features of the evo. Now that you have bought the car the only thing you might find of value is that they emphasize the need to rotate the tires more often than most folks do, Stick to synthetic oil for the health of your turbo, change the oil often.

Also in one of the videos they say that you should let the engine cool down idle after hard use so that the oil that happens to be in the turbo at shutdown will not break down from excess heat. (The next time you start bad oil in the turbo could shorten its life.

They also mention breakin periods for brakes, tires, and engine. My memory (take with salt) was 600 miles on the engine, 200 miles on tires and brakes.

I am sure all this info is (accurately) in your manual, just read that and you will be fine.

How much did you pay?
What is the advertising fee they claim up there?
What options? any accessories?

Enjoy your new ride !
