Insurance dropped me?

I got a letter in the mail today from my insurance company saying they dropped me cuz I filed one claim last year? On the paper below it shows 2, but it's really one claim that they fused together, since it was on one police report. Anyways, why is it that one claim will get you the boot? I have never filed a claim before this. It's not even my fault, since it was a case of vandalism! I am seriously pissed right now. It's finals week for me, so that most likely is one driving day left! I haven't had time to call them yet, but what is this "Plan"? Sounds pretty shady to me.

I had a friend that got dropped from geico right after he filed a claim. I hear it is pretty common with that company.

Wow... that sucks. I was just talking to my mom (used to be an auto insurance agent) and she guessed it was Geico before I even finished telling her what happened. Unfortunately insurance companies can legally do this however only during your renewal period and not during the coverage time. Good luck.

go to Allstate, Farm Bureau, or State Farm... those 3 are the best agencies if you aren't looking for the absolute rock bottom insurance.... alot better than US agencies, progressive, or geico....

At least tell me 6 months ago after I filed that claim. Now I gotta put the car back in the garage for hibernation , while I find out some solutions.

Sounds a bit fishy to me, like if Geico made a mistake or something. How do you stand on your driving record? Do you have alot of speeding tickets? Are you considered a "High Risk Driver"?

I would at least give a call on monday and get more into depth about why they dropped your insurance. If you feel that it was unfair, take it up with the Texas Department of Insurance..

Heres a website you can check out:

Trust me, I'm calling them come Monday. My driving record is perfectly clean, credit is sky high the last time I checked it (753 score), I have all the discounts you can get (good student grades, defensive driving, etc). That's what I don't understand. One blemish on my flawless stats, and they kick me out.

Thats pretty crappy that a company would drop you because you filed one claim. Thats what insurance is there for. If Geico keeps operating like that then the word will get around and people will go elsewhere for car insurance.

That's Geico for ya. You're lucky they repaired it in the first place. They usually make the body shops use inferior parts too!

What happened to your car? Did you have something stolen from it? Or was it defaced?

Man I'm sorry, but I think I can top that, Concord insurance dropped my mother because she was diabetic and didn't tell them. But they never asked. Isn't that discriminatory?

Hahahaha, that letter is almost funny!

Here's why: I called GEICO last week to clarify whether or not my Evo was covered for a wreck during untimed highperformance track days. They told me I would be covered but that they'd drop my policy if I filed a claim. I told the customer service representative that I understood that to be GIECO's standard policy when any sort of collision damage claim was made. The CSR replied "Oh sir, that's not true. We don't drop coverage for filed claims." Heh, right lady. Whatever.

Farm Bureau is great. The rate on my car went down after my brother-in-law totaled my wife's Civic. Go figure.

The problem is, insurance companys are there for profit, not to help you out. Your essecially an investment to them, they want people to pay up and use them as sparsly as possible, if people were filing 4 or 5 claims a year and they were paying out more every year than you are paying in insurance every year, they frown upon that stuff and more likly to drop you off. With these super inexpensive insurance companys like Geico, they'll give you the lowest rate for insurance, but leave you high and dry if you actually need the insurance.

As for discrimination, insurance companys do it all the time, one example men pay higher than women since statistics done by the The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety shows that men drive more aggresive, or like the most recent bull**** for raising premiums, with having a lower credit score its shown that your more likly to file a claim. Its stupid, insurance companys have way to much power.
