Do you let your buds drive your Evo?
#16
3 things say if they can drive it or not:
1. how long i have been knowing that person
2. what kind of car do they currently drive and have driven
3. if they break it, can they get it fixed (where it gets fixed is up to me)

Ok Seriously I have had mine for two months (already broken in ... I put 4500 miles on it in the first month), and I now let my closest of friends drive it.
First, they must currently drive a manual. That is a must... I don't care if you have in the past... you just need to drive one now... but sense my friends are all car nuts, they all have manuals.
Second, they have to respect the fact that it's not their property. Most of them realize it's an expensive car, and thus treat it with the utmost care. Most of them don't even hit it when given the opportunity. It's more like a friendship test... they just want to see if you will give them the keys.
Basically, if you know them, and know they can drive... then their shouldn't be any reason to be a dick and not hand over the keys. I think we all bought our cars with part of us wanting to have other people enjoy our cars....especially chicks
Peace

From: its not where you at, its where you from!
I have let a total of 4 people drive my EVO...my mom (BIG mistake), my dad (even BIGGER mistake), my best friend Ryan, and a dude from my last car club...Outside of that, most people just want a ride in it...like they are intimidated...It's really strange...I dont see a reason to be affraid of it, but I drive it all the time...

All you gotta do is read the recent post on here about the kid who let his friend START up his car (not even drive it) and he managed to start it in-gear and drive it into the house, breaking a toilet in the process!
I've let one of my employees drive it who is young but a huge car enthusiast and great stick driver (plus he knows I'd kill him if anything happened) so he's extra careful. My wife will not drive the Evo because she's afraid she'll screw something up, plus she hates driving fast. Unbelievably, I've actually told her "you HAVE to drive it... what if I break my legs while we're hiking somewhere and we've got to get to the hospital???" Anyway, I let my bro (drives a WRX) drive it, and that's about it. Can you believe my wife? I'm literally BEGGING her to drive an Evo and she won't!!!

I don't let anyone drive my car, period. That is the quickest way to ruin a friendship if something happens to. When they pay the loan then they can drive it, until then too bad.
Oh I can think of 1 person I would let drive it, speaking of Ferrari.
M. Schumacher. I think he could handle it.

I use to let my friends drive it until my friend launched on a 2nd gen gst when I told him not to. After he launched it, my clutch started to slip at 11k miles. I just got a RRM "no name" clutch installed for around a grand total. All in all, screw letting your friends drive your Evo unless they respect your wishes and your property.
