is the EVO the new DSM, as far as build quality?
Hello
I am just looking for anyone who has managed to put a large number of miles on their EVO. Just looking for anyone who can attest to long term quality or lack thereof. I'm just asking for two reasons
1)I had a 91 AWD TSi talon, only had 80,000 miles. It was on it's third transmission, second engine, when it's oil pump VEEERY slowly died, and took pretty much evereything out with it. Lots of metal flakes
2)The UK EVO boards have a lot of odd posts like "Help! Windshield wipers won't turn off!", etc. I am just wondering if the EVO is a good car to have for 40,000 miles but then a horrible car after 75,000 miles.....

I'm trying to find out the same thing before I buy an EVO. I have a 3000GT VR4 and everything inside has broke during the 11 years I had it. The Engine is strong though.
My friend just told me yesturday to think of the EVO as a JDM Mustang. Lots of power but an american interior and build quality.

I've got over 20K on my Evo, and it's been solid. I think the thing to keep in mind is that the Evo will require more care and maintenance than a typical commuter car. Change your oil + tranny & diff fluids regularly and do all of your preventative maintenance per schedule.
High performance cars demand more of attention (and money), and they will get it one way or another.
