Take evo back to dealer????
This is a stupid question. Do we have to bring our evo back to the dealer, who we got it from, for services, warranty work, etc.??? My dealer is too far from where i live and work. Plus, i hate the salesman. There is a Mitsu dealer 2 miles from where i work.

It is my first new car. So, i was not sure. I was not sure if the dealer would refuse to check my car or refuse to repair warranty work because I didn't buy the car from him. : )

You can take it to any mitsubishi dealer for service and warrenty but not all service departments know what they are doing.
For expamle, there is a mitsu dealer in Frederick, MD that is really a Pontiac dealer who also sell Mitsubishi. Their whole service department is trained on american cars. They had one guy who kind of know how to work on a 3000GT VR4 but they don't have any parts in stock. Every appointment I made had to be canceled by them because they don't know how to work on the car. For body work, they have to drive your car to a local body shop but I'm sure a lot of dealers does this as well since body shops are best for body work.

If they refuse service because you didn't buy it from them, more the better. You could sue em and get another EVO! Or better yet, porsche 911 turbo!

refuse service? man, I'll sue them or get something out of it.
And yes, i'm the reason why america's bad, blah blah blah.
If you make the manager look bad, you'll make the district manager look bad. If the distric manager isn't doing a good job, it's the regional managers fault and evetually it makes the whole company look bad.
Bad publicity kills giants.

As has been previously stated, you can take the car to any dealer or shop you want. You can even do some of the more basic stuff like oil changes and tire rotations yourself (Well, you can actually do whatever you want, if you want to totally disassemble the car then that is your purgative). In all cases be sure the paper work they give you carefully details what was done. This should include type of oil used, quantity, type of filter, ect. You should match this with what your maintenance / warranty guide says is required for whatever service you are doing. If you want to do it yourself, then be sure to keep good records, receipts for purchase and UPCs off of the containers. This way you have records you can produce if something serious goes wrong. Wherever you take it, try and build a good relationship with those working on your car. They can be your best friend or worst enemy as evidenced by a few posts on this message board.

I think what f86 is said is good advice. I can't get myself to go that far though, I'm just noting oil / filter changes in the manual. You would be surprised what a difference something as small as that makes when you resell the car. Specially if you describe how **** you are about how you do it.
