If I were you I would get the Factory Service manual - $106 from the dealership. Huge two volume set. All the torque specs, etc. etc. etc.

I have found Chilton manuals almost worthless. They tend to throw too many models in one book (I wouldn't be surprised if the Evo and the regular Lancer are in the same book!) Also they are not step by step enough for beginners and are not precise enough for experts. Half of Chilton manuals are boilerplate - the exact same stuff goes in all books regardless of the car.

regards,
Alan

Is the factory service manual in CD format? I've been looking for one and have only found the ones in CD format.

cd is $5-10. take it to kinkos and print double-sided, then bind. way less than $106.

So can just anyone goto the dealership and order it from the parts department? Also, is there somewhere I can order this online? Thanks in advance.

These may help. The second is just a parts list.

Anyone can go to the dealership parts dept and order one. It's a bargain really. Companies like BMW only have manuals on DVD or CD and charge outrageous sums for them or do not offer them to the public at all.

Don't know anything about on-line or a CD although I strongly suspect that you cannot get one for $5-$10 and I also think that printing and binding 1500 large format pages is gonna cost more than $100.
