2 cars out of hundreds is my conception of a few. I was also referring to few manufacturers (not specific cars). I'm sure people will toss more makes and models. My point was most auto manufacturers tend to build cars with framed windows. I'm assuming there's a reason for that.

Don't forget not having a frame makes the car easier to break into. It allows someone to easily slip something between the window and the seal and pry the window out. Bad news.

As for the ones that slide into the frame when the door closes; that's just too much electronics to break down for me. But that's a personal opinion.

For those saying they don't make noise.. Give it time.

Kdogg, i didn't say cars. You were talking about manufacturers, and so was i. I was giving examples from 3 different manufacturers who have or do use framless windows. People also threw in audi and benz, and i'll throw in another porsche uses them as well. So 7 manufacturers is more than just a few in my opinion.

That's not true. The Eclipses don't have them from the 2G's on up to the current model. The Diamantes don't and neither did the 3000GT's. It may lend to a sporty look/feel, but from my own experience they get annoying from the rattles you get closing the doors. I am glad the Evos have window frames.

Subaru's entire line of new cars have frameless window (and AWD ). Is that true for the 7 manufacturers you've listed? That's I was referring to "few". Besides 7 out of many (50+?) auto manufacturers is still a few to me. Oh well.

I'm sure people will toss more makes and models.
Keep them coming

The Zs have frameless windows with auto seal, window automatically goes up more after you close the door, goes down when you open the door.

Another disadvantage to the frameless windows is that you can't put the air deflectors over your windows when you don't have a frame to attach them to.

i especially love teh air deflectors that stick out a solid 2-3 inches from the car. They look good with the gun rack in the back.

Frameless windows are the suck, plain and simple. Why wouldn't you want a frame around the window? It's more structural rigidity, keeps the wind out, keeps the noise out, keeps water out, provides a solid open/close feel... I could go on...

Framless windows are mostly found on coupes. They do look out of place on the WRX especially with the window down and you open the door. Easier work for window tint shops, though.
