Headlight adjustment problem using the socket method...

I read n00dle's how-to on adjusting the headlights. I read it over and over, and read all the other threads I could find.

Tonight I decided to give it a shot. The drivers side looked a little cramped, so I moved over to the passenger side, unbolted the coolant overflow, and adjusted the beam up without a problem.

I moved back over to the drivers side and tried to adjust the beam the same way, 10mm socket turning counter clockwise. None of my gears are stripped, and everything looks AOK. As I turn the gear, all I hear is a small popping sound, and the beam doesn't move up. Both the larger (green and black) gears are moving in unison, but it seems like the very small black gear towards the fener is moving then popping back. I've been told that I might be maxing out the adjustment, which I find had to believe since the lights are so low...

Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks all!

-Sean

I know ur problem and that is because i have it too... the little black gear is stripped... if u unscrew the 2 little screws holding it down and examin the lil black gear u can see that the inner part is pretty much chewed away by the sharp metal headlight thing spinning it... I also need to kno how to get a new gear or how to fix it w/o spend boss amounts of money

I had the same problem you guys had a couple weeks ago.....passenger side is adjusted perfectly......but I couldnt adjust the drivers side.......just left it how it is for now.........dont really wanna monkey with it anymore. I dont think I've stripped the gear, perhaps just maxxed out the setting, who knows?

I've heard that popping before and my screw wasn't stripped. I just quit doing it for awhile but tried again later and it worked good.
