Heated mirrors?

How hard do you think it will be to convert our cars to have them?

Do a search for cold weather package

The Evo's in Europe have this option, I believe.
Includes heated seats, Heated Mirrors and a cold start valve.
It sure would be nice, to have the option, I know Evo imports have a cold start / weather package as an optional extra.
Good luck

I know many people on this board would consider them to be "unnecessary, extra weight" but I would really appreciate them. I'm going to look into it some more. It would be cool if I can get them to auto-dim like my rear view mirror.

Lightweight Evo's

Yeah I am the same way, the car I feel is perfect the way it is, alot of the guys on here are on about removing this and removing that to make the car lighter, first off they need to loose weight, that is the cheapest form off weight reduction there is and it is healthier for you in the long run.
As I have said before they are quick enough removing the electric windows etc but they just add that weight back with $3000 worth of stereo equipment, it doesn't make sense to me. Then they wonder why the cops are pulling them over.
They have dark tinted windows, a big exhaust, a loud stereo. that to me is just asking to get pulled over.

Anyway the parts are out there somewhere for the heated mirrors etc.
I can remember when Ford had the Escort RS Cosworth and that came with heated seats (recaro's) Mirrors, Cold start valve, kind of like a fifth injector and also a heated front wind shield, which was on most Ford's in the UK by 1990, you could barelly see the tiny wires laminated in the Shield.
what a difference it made though, it was awesome, on really cold mornings frost and ice on the windshield you could hit the heater buttons and in 5 mins the ice was detached from the shield, so once you hit the wipers it moved the rest of the ice off the windshield.
I don't know if ford have a patent out on it or not.
Anyway I hope this info has helped a little.

I was also wondering if anyone knows if it was possible to fit the cruise control from a regular Lancer, to the EVO the only thing I would be concerned about not fitting is the steering controls due to the EVO having the Momo steering wheel, but everything else in the engine bay should be a direct plug and play.
If anyone has any info on the compatibility of the system and part numbers it would be greatly appreciated. I am sure someone out there has thought of the same thing, maybe even gone ahead and installed it.

I think the engineering at Mitsubishi Japan is excellent... remember that this car is a rally car, heated mirrors was not their concern... no rally drivers park their cars in freezing weather overnight, hop in the car in the morning, and begin racing right away!! haha... the rear wipers (which is a function that is unique, I cant think of any other sedans with a rear wiper), although it is quite useful to use them to remove haze, the purpose for those was to remove mud from rally racing
Keep a piece of cloth in your car.... while you are warming up your car in the morning (always a good idea when weather is cold enough to cause your mirrors to be foggy) wipe them down... it shouldnt take that long hehe

I have ICE on my mirrors in the morning if I park outside (last year, have a garage now) and you can't just wipe it off with a cloth. Also, you can't use a scraper on it without risking damage to the electric adjustment system. Heated mirrors are a VERY good thing to have in a cold climate area.

Evo Sky

Yes the Evo has rally heritage but the versions you guys have over here are street going versions of the Evo, It takes Exuberant amounts of cash to make the Evo into a rally car, why would you want to do that? You're not a rally driver, you don't have a good reason to do that

The car is really unbearable to drive, you feel every bump, including a matchstick laying on the road, you feel every imperfection, How do I know this? I have friends in the UK who own Rally Prepared cars, both Group N and Group A Spec, they are fun at first but it soon wears off, Why do you think the Driver and Navigator have headsets on when in the vehicle? So they can hear each other.
The cars are really loud inside due to the Road noise and the Exhaust system used, especially cause there is no sound deadening and I personally don't think the rally car needs the rear wiper, added weight, I mean why do they need to look behind them, if you have ever noticed the wing mirrors are small also, agreed they have to have a road legal vehicle to get to the various stages and they would use some of the various functions but they are not neccessary.

I think you'll find that they do park their cars out in the elements, look at the Swedish rally's, Monte Carlo, Wales UK. just a few to mention but also remember they have service crews, so the car is prepared before the drivers get in and drive the stages. They certainly do not park them inside the truck trailers they use.

I suggest you check out WRC rallying etc.
You will be pleasantly surprised.
I personally, like a few other guys here, yes of course want a Rally style car, but I also want the other Amenities which allow the car to be safe on the road, as I am not a rally driver, but I wish to show my support for the sport so I'll buy an Evo.
I mean how many guys who watch Nascar actually have a Ford Taurus, or a Grand Prix totally race prepared, not many I am sure.

Is it possible to put heated mirrors and the power flush fold away mirrors like the ones overseas?

Folding Mirrors

JaguarS4R
Anything is possible.
The mirrors and switch should be a direct plug and play, but there may also be some changes to make to the wiring harness in the dash ie (replace the wiring multiplugs, maybe add a couple of extra wires here and there. without looking at the schematics, can't quite tell what would be needed.

So I would suggest trying to aquire the EVO VIII UK Spec Workshop manual, with all the schematic diagrams etc and have a look to see if it is possible and maybe aquire a copy of the US Schematics and compare the drawings, to see what coloured wires go where.

You would definitely need to purchase a Dash Mirror Switch, and a pair of UK spec Mirrors (Heated and folding type), I would almost definitely say that you will have to modify the wiring a little, to allow the heaters and folding function to work.

Well I hope all the guys in Florida survived Frances ok.
Waiting on Ivan.
Goodluck.
