What is this thing on the back of your engine?

I installed my grounding kit and at the back of the engine I took this piece of hook looking piece off because it was so hard to take off, I cant imagine putting it back on. I used the same bolt that holds that metal piece to secure the grounding wires as well incase you guys want to know why I even bothered taking it off in the first place.

If its brass colored (or gold colord) and its about 3" long or so, its one of the engine hoist mounts.. Its what they use to lift the engine to remove it or do your clutch.. When I did my ground kit, I worked out a way to leave them intact..

Without a picture of it, I can't tell you for sure what it is.. but thats what it sounds like from what your describing..

You need to read the rest of his sentence after the comma to understand it before you quote him out of context. So he used some commas wrong. Is that so bad considering where he lives and what his first language might be?

This is the reason why we have so many warranty claims denied.

the JDM translation below:

I installed the kit to which I have been based, as for starting in the back section of the engine being to be very hard, me imagine the fact that you put in place that it tilts took this part of the hook which looks at the part. That I in order to stop the ground wire securely the part of that metal the way the person who is wrapped well I why taking that of beginning apply annoyance and would like to know high the same volt/bolt which you think and grasps was used.

Yeah, its not a functional part other than giving the engine "Hoist points" to support the engine to do a clutch job.. Or lift the engine out..

What is going to suck is the extra charges you get nailed with when they find you don't have them and either have to figure out a way to hoist it.. or the delays in getting the "missing part" because we all know that when you toss that hting in your storage box or spare parts box thats in your toolbox or in your trunk.. It gets lost somewhere..

I just ended up contorting myself and getting the bolt, hoist bracket (whatever its officially called) and the ring for the grounding kit back on there...
