I'm so sick of seeing a-pillar pods. I don't know why, but now that every high-school-going-Honda-Civic owner has them, I just can't stand them. Something about the bulges comming out of the a-pillar. It makes me cringe and I don't know why. However, the a-pillar is a pretty good location for gauges, it's right at eye level and you don't have to turn your head any to see them. That being said, I have put gauges in the same place as where they would be on an a-pillar pod....Except they are suction cupped to the windshield.

Why pay more for a custom a-pillar gauge holder and then cheap gauges when you can just buy some nice gauges and have an install that you don't see every day. These gauges do peak hold, replay, over/under pressure warnings, and have variable illumination.

I have a single A pillar gauge. A pillar gauges do not obstruct your vision since the A pillar is there anyways. My personal preference would be somewhere more low key near the dash but that's not an easy place to mount cleanly. In the EVO, the Craig Hardy ones above the climate control seem to be the ideal location but they're slightly out of the line of sight of normal driving. Another place would be right above the steering column.

IMO, the a-pillar gauges look funny on the EVO. I had dual a-pillar gauges on my 1g and 2g DSMs and they seemed to match the shape of the car better since they were coupes. I'd rather do the Gruppe-S or 42draftdesigns gauge panel if I were to get more gauges. Right now I just have my boost gauge in a cup mounted off to the right hand side of the steering column.

I have a 2 pod A pillar in grey. It does obstruct your vision somewhat and I find myself looking aroud it at certain times. It's a perfect line of sight for your boost gauge, but I am removing it and going with a steering column pod for my boost. I don't want the A-pillar anymore.

I love my A-pillar gauges, can keep my eye's on the road and if needed I can glance at my gauges to see how the car is doing. Whoever says its rice can kiss my A$$ Its functional
Just a couple pics they are a little old but my setup hasnt changed to much. They are 52mm and not in my line of sight while driving.

Sometimes, the point of modifying a vehicle is not to be unique and one of a kind.... it is about functionality... which brings up the definition of "rice".... trying too hard to be "different" with non-functional mods, resulting in the majority of people laughing at your stupidity... now thats what I call ricey
the A pillar gauge pod is far from ricey... common.. yes... because its totally functional
cutting a hole on the left side of your bumper and doing a fake dual exhaust conversion... now thats ricey
