To be honest, I think the Tuner Shootout should remain a one day event. I think we should have 2 "shootout" sessions and the fastest one lap from those two sessions be counted toward the overall competition. I don't think it makes sense to have so many practice sessions, then only have 2 laps all day that actually count. It would be better to have the 2 practice sessions in the morning, then have two "shootout" sessions that would give us a total of 4 laps to post a quick time. This would change the "qualifying" session into a session that actually counted, and then we could run the last "shootout" session in reverse order of the fastest times (kinda like F1). Each session is:

1 warm-up lap (out lap)
2 timed laps
1 cool-down lap (in lap)

If we push the shootout to later in the day, we run the risk of the whole program being delayed due to accidents, oil spills, etc...and running into darkness. What do you guys think?

Here's the updated track schedule as of Thursday, December 2nd, 2004. The schedule is also listed in the first post of this thread and should have been emailed to those registered for the event:

Track Schedule
The schedule for Saturday is pasted below. HOWEVER, it may change, based on recommendations from the participants and organizers, so if the schedule is extremely critical to your existence you should check with me later on.
Sunday's schedule will consist alternating run groups in 25 min. sessions all day, from 8:30am-4:45pm.
For the EVO Tuner Shootout we will run 2 cars on track at a time during the time trials, with the exception of P11,P10,and P9, which will run first. After P11/P10/P9, we'll run P8/P7, then P6/P5, then P4/P3, and P2/P1 last. The time trial will consist of the out lap (not complete), two hot laps, and a cool down (not complete).

Would someone record some footage of the event and put it on DVD for those of us who would love to make the event, but can't. I pay $20 bucks for a DVD to see the event and the cars running in it.

I know a lot of members, myself included, plan to record this event and take a ton of pictures. Hopefully we can get some of the people running the time trials to mount a camera in their cars so we can record some laps.

If someone wants to come by my work or house tomorrow, they can borrow my in car camera mount (holds the camera on the rear middle child seat anchor and gives a pretty good view out the windshield, and part of the driver if desired).

We have a slight problem with Sunday. According to Weather.com, Sunday will be a rainy day in Lancaster, California. Probably not the ideal conditions for a tuner shootout.

The weather forecast also reported that this past Sunday, when we had the Evolution Owner's Club #3 track day, was supposed to be rainy too. In reality, it was pretty cold, but dry. If it rains on Sunday, then it rains on Sunday. Tuner shootout is Saturday anyway.

You'd probably poop your pants going through the chicane with Paul in my Evo, so no dice on the ride. Let me ask you a question genius: what makes my turbo more powerful than ANY stock 05 Evo that comes with 10.5 exhaust housing? (answer: nothing)

BTW, I'll be at the event on Saturday with my car exactly the same as last weekend. Good luck distinguishing my car from a stock Evo with an exhaust. In terms of engines mods, Kents car had a more rudimentary engine management system (SAFC and MBC, saved $400 bucks over the Xede) and lacked a 10.5 exhuast housing (saved $245) on his turbo. Here is a pic of the stock turboed evo that beat my car by .2 seconds: http://www.socalevo.net/forums/modul...view_photo.php
