I did this mod for kicks after I purchaced a forge RS.
I did however add a step: Encapsulating the screws in 1/2" of epoxy which provides air tight chamber.
I had a chance to do a side by side test of my modified stocker vs Forge RS:
Other advantages over the pimp unit for me: no fluttering, no vent-delay bucking response, does not emit a aluminum dust/grease trail in the plumbing.

I had a chance to do a side by side test of my modified stocker vs Forge RS:
- Forge RS holds from 20 psi to 15 psi at max tension for 15 seconds
- Stock modder holds the same pressure for 10 seconds

This is a nice writeup, I'm going to see if this will work on my 2g Eclipse stock BOV that I got laying around the garage from when I upgraded. Would be nice for the beginner tuners out there for something cheap

Did the mod today, until i get my Forge when i do my build... Here is what happens. I put three screws in, they were #8-32 1" long. First impressions, i build a few psi and let off. The DV flutters. So thats new. I get on the interstate, let it rip. I was tuned for 26-27 psi. Hah my boost gauge shoots right past 30, no stopping. Im suprised i didnt knock up a storm! Its amazing how much air i was actually leaking thru the valve. I really cranked them down, probably 1/3-1/2 of the screw is inside the BOV, they are 1" screws. I did not notice any part-throttle fluttering/bucking. I wish the DV was a little softer now, i may back them off 1/16-1/8. Awesome mod! Cost me $3 for the screws and a new drill bit.

loosen the other pipe clamp..rotate the bov so that the venting hole is facing as far "up" as possible.
re-tighten that clamp.
viola! nice and loud woooosh.
make sure you cap that emtpy space. i test drove mine and dam near stalled her out a bunch of times. she was suckin WAYYYY too much air. Plus, accelrating was really slow..very choppy. but once that turbo spooled, you could hear that air gettin sucked in. sounded cool
cap it.
