How to set Hallman MBC! please help!!!

i just installed my hallman MBC and in first gear it peaks at 25, so does in second, 3rd gear peaks at 30!!! i just want my psi to spike at 20 but stay at 19psi all the way through red line. how do i do this? is the boost controlled installed in the wrong position? i think the barb has to be facing down right? please post me any links with mbc installations on evos thanks in advance

did you turn it all the way down, before you took your car for a drive?

yes i did, i turned it all the way to the left i think the MBC is facing the wrong position. i have the hallman and it has a little barb with a tiny hole in it thats supposed to be facing down, the weird thing is in 3 rd i took it to redline and it would read up to 30psi without getting a fuel cut.... really weird. Then i stopped and disconnected the negative battery cable and put it back on. Nowin first it goes up to 25psi but in third it would not pass 14 so its very unstable but i dont want to take it to redline because i might blow up my engine and i will most likely get a fuel cut. Does any of this sound familiar?

no, I didn't have any problems like that. If you didn't hit fuel cut I'm sure you didn't hit 30PSI. I'd be double checking my install make sure all the fittings are secure and the n take a look at your boost guage...

Yea i think its installed correctly. I have the hallman evolution mbc ( with the cockpit knob) the mbc is installed to the wastegate but on the hallman instructions it says the boost controller should have the barb with the tiny hole facing DOWN or the measuring will be innacurate and mine is facing to like the right, sideways so its not how its suppossed to be

its supposed to be like this ------

and mine is like this

i hope you got the idea, i think i have to rotate it and re installed the hoses again. Any tips for this installation or any links with pictures would be appreciated. And wheres the perfect source to hook up the boost controller? fuel pressure regulator?? any tips? and Yes i did hit 30psi i swear, but after the battery reconnection then its goes up to 25 in 1st then 2nd and 3rd goes to 14 MAX and i dont know its just so f***ed up and unstable I got beat by a 350z when i was supposed to spank it, then a turbo mr2 tried me and i just didnt feel like racing him because i'd probably lose and feel like crap since my boost is not even on the average level, and then a mustang GT tried me and damn i felt liek spanking them all but couldnt since my boost was nuts. I hope the position of the MBC changes everything.

i reinstalled the mbc. The hose were connected backwards, and also fixed the location of the mbc. At first boost wouldnt go past 11psi, and the knob was turned all the way to the left. So i just kept raising the boost until i hit 20psi. Sometimes it would peak at 21 and go back to 19/20. Is my boost controller working fine now? i think it is, the car definitely pulls harder now and the turbo seems to spool up faster(between 2600-3000rpm). Let me know if things seem normal. Oh i forgot, i raised the boost up to 22 psi peaking and i would not get fuel cut, i wonder why? my car is stock and all it has is a greddy type S with the single spring mod.

I have figured it out , the pros that installed my MBC, were still connecting the selenoid to the equation. So im guessing thats why it tapers, because the ECU is still telling to taper at high rpms.
So I have to disconnect the selenoid two, and plug the 2 holes, but what do I plug them with?

and 'T' the BOV line, and thats when my boost will hold to redline.

Taking selenoid out is the way, but is it safer, will more constant boost mess something up?

thanks for all of your replys, even the bad ones..but hey we are here to learn right

Thanks EvoM.

i didnt T into the BOV, but my MBC seems to be working fine now, peaks at 20 and tappers to like 19, it seems fine though. Yet i think its turned close to 3/4 to the right, what if i wanna raise the boost to 25psi(later on) it wont let me because i wont have that much turning space left. I though all the way to the left was stock boost, which is not. Its 11psi. Oh well at least im boosting more, but i gotta mount my MBC somewhere, its just hanging off the wastegate and the turbo nipple lol yet that hoses are sop short that it doesnt move.

are you using the heavy spring in the knob adjustment?

i dont know. It came with one spring only. I have the hallman pro MBC. Is peaking going to damage my turbo? is it safe? should i do the "T" BOV method?

Mine works fine i hold 21 to redline all the way. i connected the wrong hoses to the wrong spot and it was doing what all ur guys mbc are doing..i switched them and it works fine
