Please HELP!!! Defi D-Gauge Oil Temperature gauge intallation
Hi everyone,
I am a newb here and would like to ask you experts a question regarding the oil temp gauge installation. I have searched all the threads here but haven't got the answer that I am looking for. I was wondering if I need to drill a hole on the oil pan to correctly install the oil temp guage. I took my car to a shop today and a mechnic told me that he would have to drill a hole in the oil pan to properly install the temp gauge. Is he bs ing? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
By the way, I have 03' evo. Thanks again.
Steve

what i did was buy an oil drain plug adapter. fits perfectly. people say though that after taking it out over and over again over time can do damage, but i think as long as you're careful it'll be fine.

Is this the Mitsubishi factory oil drain plug sending unit?
Are you using a DEFI gauge?
Thanks
BTW, My Defi TEMP gauge is sitting in the box waiting for an ideal solution besides the Greddy block adapter I purchased. I have dreams of this Greddy device backing off drain oil on my right rear tire and causing something terrible.

I have the Defi oil temp connected to the Greddy oil filter adapter. I have no problems with it leaking or anything. The tech in my area has no issues with it. It is solid and seals real nice and allows for pressure guage should you decide later. Also the tech installed an 07 V6 Eclipse oil filter on my car instead of OEM Evo filter. It shorter but wider and holds the same oil capacity. The adapter block is wide enough to accept the new filter and gives me some of the clearance back. Have had no problems for over 10K miles of road time in various weather and raod conditions.
