How do u change the modified fuel cap back to the original fuel cap

Hi there i'm wondering if any one could help me, i hav an mitsu evo6 and i noticed there is petrol leaking at the side of the car, comin out of the fuel cap.. this fuel cap has the self sprung flap on it, i've brought the standard screw on cap from maindealers but can't figure out how to take the old one off... i've tried to turn it with my hands and it doesnt move one bit..i wonder if anyone has come across this problem and give me some help/advise.. thanks

I would try a large channel lock pliers or maybe a pipe wrench if you have clearance. Or maybe you could use a small diameter band type adjustable oil filter wrench and wedge something in between it and the cap to make it snug. I would place a towel around the filler neck area so you don't scratch the paint.

You should post up a picture if you have one.
