How to: Make your test pipe look like a CAT
A little mod that I just finished doing.
Tools used:
1/4" drill bit
Chisel
Hammer
Flat head Screw driver
Mig welder
Vise Grips
Grinder
Items needed:
Test pipe
Stock Cat
1 With the cat out of the car. Take the cat and grind the welds on each seam down. Then drill out the weld at each corner of the heat shield(the weld is the bronze/rust looking circle.
2 Pry the heat shield and grind until you break all the welds free and have both halves of the heat shield off.
3. With the test pipe still on the car take the heat shield and mark where you want it to be. Orientation is important to keep heat shield away from drive line.
4. Tac weld one side of the heat shield to the test pipe.
Picture of how it should look so far
5 Get 4 small nuts and bolts together a little smaller or equal to the 1/4" inch holes you made. put those through the holes and tighten down. (don't forget lock washers)
Then tac weld the heat shield together.
Test to make sure your welds are good.
Then Enjoy the highest flowing cat on the market.
